"Muhurta Helper" behaving strangely

I've been experimenting with Muhurtas for myself and others. The Muhurta Helper in Kala is a nice tool, but it seems to behave inconsistently. For instance, I cast a Muhurta for a business opening (namely, when to relaunch my redesigned website which focuses more on my astrology business) and the best one I found in my time frame was a 7-point Muhurta on October 30. I saved the Muhurta, so I can still call it up that way, but when I retry Muhurta Helper for that same time frame, that same Muhurta does not show up, nor do the 5-point ones which also previously registered. I've also tried searching other date and time ranges and just nothing shows up most of the time; when it does, it might show up one time but not the next time I run it. I'm not sure if I'm doing anything wrong, as I'm punching in exactly the same things in each case.

I had a similar issue and reported it in the old forum. Go to "Tools" and select "Sunrise Calculator". If the timings are off by 90 degrees it is likely the same issue. Muhurta helper seems to be calculating the muhurta with the lagna about 90 degrees in advance of the local time. The manual input is not doing that. Since I do use Muhurta helper, I rolled back to an earlier version of Kala. I don't know if the issue was resolved in an unannounced update.

For those who are getting an error in the calculations uninstall yours and download the latest from www.vedic-astrology.net/Kala2018.zip IF you have the 2018 version.

If it keeps loading, then try a shorter time period as the calculations are very time consuming and your computer may not be super powerful and taking forever as a result.

@ernst Hi Ernst. The following is relevant to Kala 18.00.0021. Bear with me, I think I can be clearer now. I cast a chart with a custom latitude and longitude. The place of residence is also custom (not using the inbuilt ephemeris). I then go to the Muhurta screen. I click on Select Place and Time. I see my custom latitude and longitude and correct time zone. I then select the country and then select the nearest location to my precise location from the inbuilt ephemeris. Any changes to the date and time from the main screen are then correct. If I skip the step of entering the location from the inbuilt ephemeris in the Select Place and Time popup, any change of date or time will be calculated from a 00:00 timezone, not the time zone I saw on the original screen before I made any changes. This is why I was referring to a mysterious 90 degree offset on the output. I'm looking at things from a +06:00 timezone. For some reason, the Muhurta screen is ignoring the default time zone when the inbuilt ephemeris is not being used. Hope that is a bit clearer. This behavior doesn't happen when sticking exclusively with the inbuilt ephemeris.

I see, we will see if we can find a way to get around that as we work on the new version.
