Dear Learned Souls,

I know a lot of discussions have been made on this topic. I have been doing intermittent fasting for a few years now. I only eat once a day (dinner at 6:30 PM). I wish I could only have lunch. But the family wants me to have dinner with them. I also try to (if wife permits) fast for 36 hours on Ekadashi. I have done 48 hours fasting without any issues. I keep drinking warm water throughout the day. It has helped me a lot. I used have a lot of heart burn and acid re-flux. That is all gone now. I was able to loose nearly 20 lbs of weight. I feel fit and energized. However I have only one issue; I get constipation, even though I drink nearly 120 oz of water during the day. I remember Ernst had suggested to have something to prevent constipation. I would highly appreciate if anyone of you remembers what Ernst had suggested.

Thanks and regards,

Tapas

When you do eat, what exactly are you eating most of the time when you have your one meal a day?

Also, have you ever see an Ayurvedic doctor, or know what your primary and or secondary constitution is?

Hi Cody,
I only eat dinner. My dinner is mostly rice, lentils and vegetable.

I haven't had the opportunity to consult an Ayurvedic doctor. I will try to find an Ayurvedic doctor near my place of residence and try to find out my primary and secondary constitution. Since this consultation can't be done over phone, I will have to see if the doctors are willing to see patients during this time.

I remember one time before playing a concert, I was super nervous so I didn't eat all day, then after the show I was so hungry I had to eat something so I had a bunch of sushi on white rice. I couldn't take a shit for a few days afterwards, lol. I also have seen an Ayruvedic doctor, and he told me that I was eating too much rice, which was slowing down my digestion, and in effect causing sinus issues.

If you go for long periods of fasting, its important to break the fast gently (not a big meal). It is recommended to break a longer fast with bone broth, as the collagen does great wonders for the intestines, and its not exactly a meal, yet has so many nutrients. But, I am assuming you are vegetarian, so maybe something like a gentle vegetable soup (something that has more water, and soft vegetables as opposed to something dry like rice). You could also try reducing the amount of rice with your lentils and add ghee to lubricate, or add spices like cumin, cardamom, ginger, and long pepper.

If you are constipated, then the food is obviously constipating and you need to adjust what you are eating. Aerobic Excercise is also important for constipation.  Rice is actaully constipating for many people, so maybe that's it, so are beans.

Fenegreek seeds cooked into the foods can help with constipation, but really, its important to eat foods that are not constipating. WHen constipation is bad, my favorite herb is cascara sagrada. Its gentle but does the job. But you dont want to take anti co nstipation herbs over long  periods of time, just for those bad days.

simply eating a late breakfast of fruits can do it as we need fruit fibers in our bowels.

Ernst,

Thanks you for your reply. I generally don't have constipation. It only happens when I fast (Ekadashi days as I fast for 36 hours on Ekadashi). In one of "Why is 2020 this Way and when will it End?"  video you had suggested that fasting is a good detox technique. There you also suggested to have something (I didn't understand) to prevent constipation from fasting.

I eat only once a day. So I skip breakfast. But I have seen that guava helps me a lot. My main food is rice and vegetables as many people are suggesting gluten free diet. I will be able to get back to exercise routine in a month, when I move to my house.

Regards,

Tapas

My interest is in the workings of the mind, how it affects the energy field within and outside the body, and the symbological way it expresses itself. There are many layers of internal that reflect the many layers of the external. The body reflects the mind on one level.  From that perspective, I would question what is happening in the mind.

Following the intake of food, digestion and absorption of nutrients necessary to the body takes place, and what is termed as waste products are ejected from the body. In a similar way, the mind takes in certain things as experiences, digests them, learns from them, and then releases them. If not released, it becomes poisonous to the mind, which then spreads through the energetic fields.

The digestive system is taken care of by the lower three energy centers of the body, depicting security, creativity and will power. If we add Rahu-Ketu to it, Ketu is the headless body. Where is the mind in conflict with the heart? What is the mind holding on to, instead of allowing it to dissolve? Is the conscious mind aware of the conflict and able to deal with it, but doesn't want to? Or is it unaware of the conflict within itself and the body, and the environment, is manifesting the symptoms to get the mind to become conscious of the problem at hand?
