Hi Ernst,
Does house/placement affect the planet? or only the planet affects the house?
With the cusp I know it is that the planet affects cusp and not vice versa.. but is that true of "house" too?
Ernst recently wrote on this. Sharing the link

Thanks. I get the part on the cusp and did mention it in my question. Wasn't clear on the former i.e. the house placement, that is why I asked the question...
For example, if a planet is in 6,8,12.. Is its manifestation stressful because humans perceive those houses to be stressful, and the planet is being used in stressful situations? Or is the planet itself stressed and thus struggles to manifest. They are not really the same, isn't it.
I would venture to say its the former, but wanted to know what Ernst (or others) think it is.
So remembering one of Ernst's talks, in general the houses do not affect planets. I am not sure if he still goes by that, but I can only assume.
There are some things like cancellation of debilitation, like having a planet in a kendra can help with debilitation. But that isn't directly effecting the debilitation, more so the way the debilitation might become manifest.
In general the planets act through the houses by expressing their consciousness through the themes of the house.
I would look at the planet first, which sign is it in, is it happy in that sign? Okay, now how is it expressing that through the house in which it is sitting? If its a difficult house, and the planet is happy because of the sign its in, then it might give you some grace or benefit through difficult situations associated with that house.
I think I would rather have a happy planet in a shitty house, as opposed to a sad planet in an awesome house.
planets are producers. They produce all the things in the world. The houses, particularly the cusps, are all the manifested things that are produced. A planet produces the house it in fluences in accordance with its wellbeing. A planet also produces what it represents as well as the things of the bhavas it rules.
Depending on its location as counted from the lagna, it can more readily or with more difficulty produce that which it is and that which it rules.
