I am curious as to exactly what everyone thinks the meaning or purpose of the retrograde Venus is on a personal evolutionary level. For me, I am quite curious because Venus is transiting my 7th house, the north node also just moved into my 7th house, and a new moon, my 7th lord (merc), and the sun will be joining there as well this month.

There is no difference in evolutionary goal between a retro and non retro planet. Whats important about retro is that its closer to earth when its retro and so it has more confidence in how its being used, all other factors equal. Its a strength known as chestha bala.

I don't think Venus is a evolutionary planet. Venus transiting 7th could mean your partner will have some venesian things coming their way. Retrograde makes those more powerful and better. Rahu transiting 7th house means your partner working on their path in life.

So from your perspective, it could be learning to develop relationship qualities with your partner.

Ah I see, so it doesn't necessarily mean what the mainstream astrologists say? like... "don't enter into a commitment during Venus retrograde", or, "a past lover may return", or, "Its more a time to reflect and reassess relationships".

I heard something similar, codydeboer. That the old astrology texts are concerned about starting certain long-term commitments during times of Venus or Jupiter retrograde.
