Hi Ernst (or others):

How do we interpret when a particular planet is fine, but its corresponding house is in difficulties? For example, an okay Moon, but a difficult 4th house. Or an okay Sun, but a difficult 5th house. Especially in the context of Avasthas/Habits.

I mean, it seems obvious that a difficult 4th house will give the more difficult Moon-y experience of life, but is it equivalent to a difficult avastha moon itself? At least- in the real-time sense of experiencing life- it's not so different, isn't it?

On a related note, in an earlier YT video (3 stages to love), Ernst mentioned an example of a woman with a Saturn in 4th combined with Moon in 1st as a difficult, wounded combination. I wonder why, as there are only aspects here, and conjunctions are often harder avasthas.

Is this specifically because the Moon is in the 1st, the house of Self, and thus there may be over-identification with the difficulties coming from the 4th? OR is it just because of the avastha by aspect? Or Saturn in 4th itself giving a Saturn-Moon effect, compounded by also having Moon in 1st?
Or am I missing some other technical thing here?

//I haven't yet seen all the recent videos of Avasthas/Habits. so if this is all somehow covered there, do let me know. I'll just keep that in mind for when I watch it.

Each house and each planet have multiple meanings and layers so I don’t think there’s a straight answer to your question. In my own life, for example, I have Rahu in the 4th house which means I had a lot of instability at home growing up, changing residences a lot (involving foreign countries) and, still today, it’s challenging for me to figure out what place I can call home. With that being said, I have a pretty good Moon (good dignity, high Drig Bala, delighted avastha) so, even though there’s some frustrations and pain associated with 4th house matters, I’ve never felt depressed or down for a long time and I’ve managed to always keep a positive and hopeful outlook. So I think it’s important to differentiate the areas of our lives (the houses) from the way the planets operate within those areas of life.

The houses are what we have, the THINGS, the planets are our consciousness, thus the consciousness we experience the things with. The avastha of the planet and the avastha of any planets in a house that correlates to that planet, as well as the avastha of lord of that house, will show the consciousness with which that thing is experienced and thus the fulfillment or lack off.

How much of a house is there, if its there, its good to use the jaimini techniques of the house who has its lord, jupiter or mercury joining or rasi aspecting is manifested.

 That makes sense. Thank you!

house that correlates to that planet

Hi Ernst

What would a House correlating to a graha means here (since lordship and placed graha already mentioned separately)

@rajan

I think it can be seen how a bhava is experiencing planet consciousness who are doing planetary aspects to a bhava. If we select Bh button of lajjitadi screen for a varga, we can find which bhava experiencing what avasthas from other planets. Is my understanding correct Ernst?

Thank you

@rajan This is what I have (assuming this is what you were inquiring about). The initial table is from James Kelleher's book, also in line with Hart de Fouw. I've added a few notes that I gathered from another source. Also, I don't recall Ernst mentioning correlations in one of his classes but it may be my bad. He correlates planets to vargas though so it may be the proper way to approach it and am not sure correlations between planets and houses are part of the old texts and it may be an add on from creative astrologers...;) Happy for anyone to pitch in and add/correct if needed.
