Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra states that the Dwadasamsa indicates parents. Parents refers not only to the father and mother, but to all the other parental ancestors that came before them, those in their past lineage: grandparents, great grandparents, great-great grandparents, etc. The Dvadasamsa is the cumulative effect of the direct ancestors and the affects the karmas of the ancestors have upon the life of the individual. It is, therefore, of great importance with some texts givingit as much preference as the Navamsa
