Muhurta Chintamani is the one ancient Indian text I have seen that deals with the effects of living in a particular city. It is likely the oldest astrological text available with any such techniques, for relocation is a relatively new concept even amongst western astrologers. Of the few techniques given by Muhurta Chintamani which pertain to relocation, the Kakini technique is my favorite.
