Hi Ernst,

I am trying to understand precession of equinoxes.

Found some good article here :

https://www.britannica.com/science/precession-of-the-equinoxes

Can we say that after around 6000 years, solstice and equinox dates will exchange each other due to precession of earth considering we are still using the current calendar? Means equinox will come when earth is farthest away and solstice will come when earth is closest to Sun? And if not at 6000 years, then when can it happen if that can happen?

Thank you ????????

Regards,

Amit

The equinox and solstice calendar dates will remain the same as the calendar is designed to revolve around those points. There are 365.2422 days in a solar year, the year based on the equinoxes and solstices. We have a calendar of 365 days to fit that. Then every four years we add a day, leap year, to make up for the .2422, and every once in a long while, we loose a leap year because .2422 is less than 1/4 of a day.
