Dear Ernst and friends,

Thank you for these amazing courses. I am really learning so much.

I have a question that you may be sick of answering, so please feel free to refer me to a good video/course which explains. I am still on the beginner courses.

I've been using sidereal for years and I see you use tropical. Can you explain why that is? I tried the Sri Yukteswar ayanamsha but I think that is quite different from tropical calculations (didn't have much luck).

I suppose us humans don't like change and so there is some resistance, but I'm aways open to exploring new avenues and am humble enough to admit that you clearly know a lot more than me.

Many Vedic astrologers believe that the precession of the equinox needs to be accounted for. Is this incorrect?

Any thoughts would help.
Thanks again,
Nick

hi NIck, you can read an article and listen to an audio on that at Microsoft Word - The Mystery of the Zodiac.doc (vedic-astrology.net)

@ernst Ok great thank you. While you're here, I was just wondering, do you do any live teaching at the moment, via Zoom or anything? Also is it possible to get email notifications for these forums. I turned on subscriptions, but I don't seem to get emails yet

@scott-m-19 Thanks Scott. So we use the nakshatras with the sidereal zodiac right? Which means the dashas stay the same as with the sidereal zodiac? Or is it not as straightforward as that?

Yes. Ernst uses the tropical zodiac for the 12 rasis and sidereal for the nakshatras. Atleast for now. Two separate calculations interwoven in the same chart. Of course depending on the ayanamsa and astronomical year used to calculate dasha lengths the sidereal zodiac will vary.

You can always experiment with different zodiacs to find what you think works best.

It is a fascinating topic. I personally believe we live in too low of an age to understand astrology fully and accurately as a true science. At least it is moving in that direction and Ernst has really made an effort for that.

Hi Nick,

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but Ernst also goes into this quite extensively in audio recording 9 and 10 of the old "Rasi Sutras" class.

@angela-w Thanks Angela. I am listening to New Rasi Sutras right now, but will give the old one a go at some point. Thank you
