What you said in Shadabala course is so true, that if Mercury is bad in Sthanabala, then that person will have hard time putting their skills to use, and they can have lots of skills, but they will still have hard time putting it to use. And I was thinking that that is so true, and how is it that they can still have lots of skills, while that planet is bad in Sthanabala, because Sthanabala considers planets Uchabala and other factors, like it being in Kendras and Trines. So, how can we still have lot of ability (skills) with that planet, if it's bad in Sthanabala. That's what I didn't get, thanks.

I'm asking because I thought that a person can have skills but not know how to apply them is more of Digbala. Like they have good Sthanbalas, means their mercury has lots of skills but they have bad Digbala mercury so they don't know how to initiate those skills and put them to use. But as you know that you mentioned this point in Sthanbala that mercury can be bad in Sthanbala so a person doesn't know how to use their practical skills but they can still have lots of them which I thought was mercury. Being good in Sthanbala means they have skills. I know it's a pretty basic question but it got me thinking that's why I asked because Sthanbala is dignity and house position based that's y..

There are four components of Sthana bala, only one has to do with the resources one has to draw on.  The others deal with either how that planet relates to other beings or the force and energy of the planet.  If we think of Sthana bala as the ability for the planet to stand and deliver/most effective this may clarify.
