Hi everyone.  I am studying palmistry along with astrology, and often ask people I am taking hand prints from about their birth times.  Most of the people I come across don't know their exact birth time.  I'm lucky if I get a ballpark time.  I was curious about comparing charts with what I am discovering in the hands, but I can't get very far with only approximate birth times.

My palmistry studies aside, I'm just curious how others work around this issue.  I know people can use the moon lagna as an alternate reading when the birth time is not known.  If you have any other suggestions or ideas for how to give valuable chart-based information to people without accurate birth times, kindly let me know.

Lastly, are there any specific techniques someone could use to rectify a horoscope to get a more accurate birth time?  The answer to this question is probably complicated, but if there are some more simple or accessible techniques to narrow birth time windows, I'll be happy to know them.

Thanks in advance.

The Lajjitaadhi avasthas are generally not dependant on an accurate birthtime. Only if you are really off, the Moon and any fast-moving planet that is close to changing rasi are affected. Gives deep insights in the psychology of the person.

Also the Cards of Truth-system is not very time-sensitive. You must now whether the person was born at night or after around 8 o´clock in the morning though, and if the birthtime is between 5.40-7.40, more or less, it´s hard to know what card represents a card.

The nakshatras are pretty safe to use in most cases. Only if the Moon is about to change nakshatra and/or the time is really off, you can´t use it.

Some of the character yogas (check in the audio courses for that) still work.

Chara Karakas are mostly useful in this context. Only fastmoving Moon, most often, may create confusions.

Those are some aspects of astrology that are mostly reliable even without knowing the exact birthtime.

And then using the Moon as a lagna, as you say.

As for rectification there is a special course about that on the site.

Thanks, Staffan! I appreciate your detailed and thorough answer.  Given how so many people I'm encountering don't know their exact birth times, I may need to employ these different methods more than I think.

@akpyati I have to correct myself though. ShadBala depends on the birth time. Take that one off the list! I´ll correct in the comment above.

Since you are into palmistry I want to take the chance to ask you whether you know any good sources of information in that field, especially online?

Hi Staffan.  I started studying palmistry in late January of this year with a course at the College of Psychic Studies (CPS) taught by Robin Lown.  This is his profile at the College: https://www.collegeofpsychicstudies.co.uk/about-us/our-consultants/robin-lown/.   He offers a ten week introductory hand reading course three times a year at the CPS.  There are weekly Zoom sessions and homework in-between.  He covers a lot of material in a short span of time and there is a lot to take in.  But I left that course feeling like I knew the basics and had a general framework of how to approach a reading.

I am currently taking a longer (6 months, up to a year) correspondence course with another master palmist from the UK, Johnny Fincham ( https://johnnyfincham.com/).   He starts his courses every May and November of each year with a maximum of 20 students per class, and his pricing is reasonable.  I really like his methodical and logical approach to hand reading.  Johnny takes a more modern approach to the field, with a very strong logical and analytical focus.  One's intuition will help in a reading, but he teaches a method that requires less on intuition or any astrological knowledge.  I'm still at the early stages of learning, but it's a fascinating art and science that can give a lot of direct and immediate knowledge about someone's character, psychology, life path, etc.

There are a lot of free resources out there and many books on palmistry, but I'm finding the more methodical approach through a correspondence course more useful to me.  Hope that helps.
