What techniques do you use for checking if two specific people will be back together?

You could start by casting a relationship Prasna and check "condition of love" and "partner returning home" in particular.
One way is prashna as Francesca has told, that is one of the best ways for sure. Another way is to examine the charts for mutual destiny, so do they both have love transits and love events on the same day that can point towards them coming back together? If yes, we can assume they get back together. Using the cards system is good too as you can see if the other person's birth card is coming back into their life.
You can also use the composite chart and watch transits to the composite chart and see if that chart is getting any transits that can cause them to reconnect.
Do you use the composite or davidson charts in the compatibility page in Kala? Are those methods you utilize? I assume they're western astrology methods. What is the primary focus or techniques for those charts?
I generally use the composite, the davidson is popular in germany but not so well developed in the US. For the composite chart, there is a book, planet in composite by Robert Hand, it will teach you how to read a lot from that chart.
in addition, i use transits to the composite chart to predict what happens in relationships.
and, for relationships to go long distance there has to be planets in angles.
