Not sure if this is the right section to post in, but I've noticed when researching nakshatras on google, websites will often say which navamsa the pada falls in. For example I have venus in Magha pada 2 and a website mentioned "Magha pada 2 falls in the Taurus navamsa." But in my navamsa chart my Venus is in Scorpio. Am I interpreting this incorrectly or are some calculations off?

One of the commonly used calculations of nakshatra positions is based on where nakshathra and rasis (and hence nakshatra and navamsa) are always aligned.

So, in that system, Magha 2nd pada will always fall in Leo rasi from 3deg 20min to 6deg 40min, and hence will also fall in Taurus navamsa)

To give you more clarity, can you also share the longitude degrees of Venus in the natal chart.

Plus also if you could share the tool where you calculated nakshathra position to be Magha pada 2.

(Would be good to just check in Kala software or at

Is longitude degrees just the degrees that shows next to the planet in the chart? If so my Venus is 24:33 and I used this calculator https://vaultoftheheavens.com/VOTH_ChartCreator/Welcome.aspx

So, the Venus is in Leo 24deg 33min, which would fall in Scorpio navamsa.

As you might have noticed, Ernst advises to use Tropical rasi with Sidereal Naksatra positions, the rasi and naksatras don't line up the same way as if both are used either Tropically or Sidereally.

The website that mentioned "Magha pada 2 falls in the Taurus navamsa" is following the same basis for rasi and nakshatra positions. So, if you are following along Tropical rasi and Sidereal Naksatra position, ignore what that website mentions.

Okay I get it now, thank you! Is there a list somewhere that shows which signs the tropical rasi will fall into the sidereal naksatras?

There can't be a long term fixed list coz nakshatras keep moving back as per the precession of equinoxes. It will also vary depending on which ayanamsa you are using.

But yes, you may just use a transit chart and move Moon or even ascendant cusp around the zodiac to see the corresponding rasi and nakshatra position and create a rough table for current alignment.
