Dear Ernst
When we check the dignities of planets in Vargas, should we take into account the temporary relationship of planets. Is the table in Kala generated by taking temporary relations also into account.
Suppose Venus is in Leo, and Sun is 10th from Venus. Then Enemy + Temporary Friend = Neutral. Is this the way, it is calculated?
yes, dignities are based on combined relationships, so temp plus natural. And yes, that is the way to calculate it.
I have troubles determining dignities when it requires combinations of natural and temp relationships. In my D2 chart, moon is in libra and venus is 6 rasis away. Venus is naturally neutral to the moon and a temp enemy, so I guess, this should put the moon in an E sign here. But the Dignities in Vargas table says it is in F sign. In D60 moon is in Gemini with Mercury 8 rasi away, which according to the table puts moon in GF sign, but shouldn't it be natural friend plus temp enemy = neutral? I find the same discrepancy in 5 more vargas, so it is 7 out of 16. What am I getting wrong?
The temp friendship is determined in the Rasi only and carried into the other vargas. That is how i do it. most modern astrologers do the temp relationship separately for each varga.
Hi Ernst. 2 questions:
1. What is the logic that informs taking the temp friend from the Rasi vs. the independent Varga. I follow your direction, but am curious about your rationale.
2. And we should consider the dignity in a Varga as what it is in that Varga specifically and not mitigated by the Dignity of the the particular graha in the Rasi. For example, an EX Sun in the Rasi and a GE Sun in the Saptamsa is a full GE Sun in the Saptamsa. Unlike the mitigation that seems to take place when considering the deeptadi avashtas, correct?
