Also thinking about Ericksons mule trick - although it seems to have been a calf, haha, I googled it: It seems to be exactly the method that AA and other 12-steps communities use to heal: they list the consecuencies of their addiction, into the minor detail. The pain of seeing themselves in the mirror motivates them to heal.

Thats funny, I read that in an Ericksonian textbook I was lucky to find and I remember it being a mule, haha, i wonder, that was when i was 21. My first girlfriend was an eriksonian. She studied with Ernie Rossi and was his best pupil and she spent a lot of personal time with him and I heard all kinds of near magical stories. Ernie Rossi co authored books with Miltion Erikson. So when I stumbled on an eriksonian textbook, I grabbed it. My girlfriend had an eye injury when she was 16 from a stalker attack that left her with limited depth perception so she could not pass the driver's license visual exam. She managed to hypnotize the testers into thinking she took the visual exam and passed it, but she did not even do it. She would also get dental work, even a root canal, with no numbing injections.
