Rahu in 12th form AK is not more or less pain. Pain depends on the lajjitaadi avasthas. Rahu in 12th from AK simply makes a person a kali devotee which means that suffering serves as a spiritual practices. ALL spiritual practices have the same agenda, to move the energy from the lower chakras into the higher. The planet in 12th from the AK simply shows how a person will do that. for some, its becasue the pain they suffer causes them to make an energetic shift.
