No, its confusing isn't it! Just go to the main forum page and scroll down it and you will see what's there and just click on anything that seems interesting. You can also search for subjects. 

What's the "rule" to have a sample of our handwriting before starting the course? Writing about ourselves like in your example? How long? Does it matter if it's pen or anything else? Thank you!

pick the pen or pencil of your choice. And just write about yourself, anyting, can be a fantasy, ,can be true. does not matter at all. 

The basic rules will apply to any langauge. Some will directly transfer, such as space between words, margins and other things. In fact, most Gestalt things will directly transfer and that in its self is A LOT and all that some handwriting schools use. Yes, you can do when in a different than native language. Its common to have some letters changing, it simply means they are not stable in that letter and not sure how they need to use it.
