Hi All,

Is it, in a way, naive or unreasonable to think of Mars as a particularly important planet, almost like a second Earth? Especially considering that humans envision living there in the future? If we think of Earth, astrologically, as representing us—since we literally stand on it—could Mars then be seen as a kind of ‘second self’ in a horoscope…?

Every planet is important, but why and how come? Mars is Kuja, which means born of the earth and that must make him important. But no, it's not a self-planet, neither is earth. Earth sets up the foundation of our charts with zodiac and houses, if we were on mars, we would have to start calculating houses for mars and then mars would be the field, not earth.

@ernst Thanks a lot! "Mars is Kuja, which means born of the earth..." is an eye opener- Do I find that info in the Graha Sutras? By the way Ernst- Could you kindly recommend which edition of "Surya Siddhanta" and "The holy Science" I should get? Which translation is the best? I have noticed that the editions of The Holy Science I have found are not complete...Thank you so much!

Surya siddhanta by Burgess is the best translation and it explains the astronomy calculations which are VERY complex.

Holy science just get the copy by Self Realization Fellowship.

all the names of planets are in the Names of Planets chapter in Graha Sutras, one of the best chapters.
