I've been studying astrology for about 7-8 months and I finally sat down and made an intentional effort to read a chart. I'm taking the New Rasis Sutras right now and Ernst takes about reading the rasis according to their lords, so I felt I really should try this technique out for myself. I sort of procrastinated because it is sort of scary I guess for some reason, but I finally did it. I didn't try to get super in depth or get everything, I just wanted to look at a chart with intention and make a good effort at reading. I've been looking at some charts now and then, but haven't really tried to read one with intention.
I just wanted to share the result of my effort here as it is a sort of milestone. I would welcome feedback if anyone is interested and feels so called.
(chart is attached)
empty leo and the sun in the sign of a friend and conjunct a friend indicates this person will have a good ability to build their kingdom, to understand and try to follow their inspirations and vision for life
the placement in scorpio shows that her kingdom will be built around her emotional needs, that it will serve as a place where she can be secure and stable while she explores her emotions
empty cancer and the moon in scorpio indicate a less than average ability to recognize her needs and to meet them in a healthy way. there might be a less than average ability to adapt due to a too great focus on her immediate emotional experience
however, with her strong sun she can build a kingdom that allows a safe place for her intense emotional experience to play out. her moon is being delighted by the sun which helps as well, though the sun is also agitating the moon, which could cause her to be less adaptable
her moon is slightly hurt which may slightly hurt the scorpio, causing her to be a bit more rigid and allowing her emotions to distract from her goals, yet the strong sun and especially the exalted lord mars more than make up for this, showing she will overcome these kinds of challenges eventually
i think the signs of mars are the healthiest overall and are the primary reason this chart works so well
the signs of venus are empty and venus is in capricorn conjunct mars. so venus is being delighted by saturn. the conjunction with mars may increase the intensity of her venusian urges but his exaltation will tend to do so in the best way possible. venus is being half-starved by the moon. overall, she has at least an average ability to find fulfillment in the things of the world
her primary hinderance in that goal would be a too great reliance on relationships or external things to make her feel good due to starvation by the moon, which is already a challenge since the moon is in scorpio, but again, her strong sun and strong mars will make us for this eventually
with mars and venus in capricorn and saturn by himself in pisces her saturn signs are also healthy. saturn is starved in aspect by the sun to 39 points. together this should give at least an average ability to weather the unavoidable difficulties of life. sun starving saturn makes this more difficult, but healthy capricorn with exalted mars is able to overcome this eventually
the signs of jupiter are relatively healthy. saturn and mercury are neutral in pisces and sagittarius. ketu in sagittarius is a minor difficulty. it shows she has experience working with sagittarius, with aiming for a goal, but that her ability to do this is incomplete and doesnt always accomplish what she thinks it does or as well as she thinks it does
jupiter himself is conjunct rahu, starved by mercury, half-starved by venus but delighted by the sun and mars. overall there is a challenging with finding true purpose and true joy in life, with finding a greater perspective than that of the limited self, but the exalted mars and strong sun and their delights show that she will be able to work through these issues eventually
the signs of mercury, with rahu in gemini, are the most afflicted on a basic level. rahu in gemini shows that she did not start with a great ability to move towards her purpose in a meaningful way, that one of her greatest challenges is to learn the skills and techniques necessary to pursue her goals.
with rahu in gemini she does not have an innate ability to determine what works the best and therefore the best path to take. however, mercury himself with ketu shows that she does have some natural mercury ability which will help her to learn the lessons of rahu
there is parivartana yoga between mercury and jupiter. not only do they exchange signs, but mercury is the lord of rahu conjunct ketu and jupiter is the lord of ketu conjunct rahu. this is a very fascinating aspect to this chart. MercuryJupiter is her only final dispositor, so this along with rahuketu in gemini/sagittarius shows that the primary theme of her life will be embodying the higher purpose and joy of jupiter while expressing that jupiterian energy through the practical skills and technical mastery of mercury and gemini
there will be a constant theme of balancing information with wisdom, technicality with meaning and purpose. her strong sun and exalted mars show two abilities that will almost surely enable her to overcome the challenges of her chart and to learn the lessons of rahu and ketu
(btw, this is the chart of bjork, which is how i know the chart "works well" in actuality)
I didn´t read through all of it - maybe I will later - but I saw that you found the interchange between the 2nd and 8th, and also the interchange of Ra/Ke-lords. That I find impressive, giving how short time you have been studying astrology. I don´t know whether you draw the conclusion o what a 2/8 interchanges means though: economic instability, insecurity, fluctuation. Since the 5th lord (Jupiter) is involved, it could also bring wealth though. Just after having written this I see whose chart it is; there you go, wealth indeed.
Staffan
some of my thoughts. i agree with Steffan about 2/8 PV yoga. This stood out to me because not only it is PV 2/8 Dainya yoga, it is also Rahu Ketu houses so a double whammy here. Both are money houses. 2nd is your money and 8th is other people money. If the planets are in good dignity and the 5th lord is involved or the 9th Lord which can help to produce wealth, then there is a possibility of getting money from other people. But in general, this yoga is going to give ups and downs and instability with other people money and with what you hope to get from other people. The 8th house is what you think you are going to benefit from someone. The 5th Lord Jupiter is in an enemy sign in the 8th so you are going to find that expectation to be unstable, ups and downs of support of family as well because 2nd house is family and friends.
She has all planets in 5 rasis and that gives Pasa "noose" Yoga. This yoga can be good or bad depending on how good Jupiter is. If Jupiter is well disposed it is indicative of a good character and the capacity for happiness. The person will have the knowledge, wisdom and good fortune to help them to choose the highest and best path. If Jupiter is poorly disposed, the person will find themselves in difficult and painful circumstances due to a lack of the protective merit that is indicated by Jupiter.
Mars and Venus together indicates a lot of passion for the 3rd house things. 7th Lord (Venus) in the 3rd or 11th in moveable signs is a yoga for 2 marriages. A malefic in the 3rd makes a person very willful and strong minded. Mars is exalted here so she is going to be one fighter. That is what stood out for me..
