Hello Ernst and everyone,

I am doing the predicting with Rasi dasas course.

just want to clarify, that we aren't looking at either of those aspects in the vargas.

all aspects are only seen in the rasi.

in that course they are still using the aspects in the vargas, but that is not the case anymore.

is that correct?

thank you for any responses.

Hi Rima,

This is actually a really good question. I know that there seems to be a divide in our astrology community on whether we should be considering the aspects in the Vargas or not, in relation to whether they make the Deeptadi Avasthas, as well as other avasthas in the charts.

The way I work with them and understand them is that we don't consider planetary aspects in the Vargas, but we do consider the Rasi aspects in the Vargas. So, to answer your question clearly, I use Rasi aspects in all Vargas because they create an "on/off" switch. If there are separating Grahas Rasi aspecting signs, they will separate us from that sign along with anything held in that sign. Same goes for manifesting influences.

We have three types of aspects, and they all have a different effect on things.

  1. Rasi aspects - are based on Jaimini principles. They are either on or off to the signs that they are aspecting. Used in all Varga charts.
  2. Planetary aspects - are based on exact degrees from each planet. Only used in the main Rasi chart (D1), not in Vargas.
  3. Tajika aspects - these are the same as what we use in Western astrology, which originally comes from Persian astrology. Used in Varshaphal (Solar Return) and Prasna (Horary) since they are Tajika based. These are also degree based.

@suzanstars

I've a somewhat related question lately.

In a few videos I've watched recently, when looking at Lajjitaadi Avasthas in the rashi, Ernst will say something like, Saturn and Venus are conjunct, but Saturn is sleeping, so he can't hurt Venus. But then will look into a varga chart and say, but in the d10 Saturn is exalted so he can starve Venus in the d10; for example, in Angelina Jolie's chart this would happen.

So in terms of planetary aspects, we don't calculate planetary aspects in the varga charts, but the planetary aspects of the rashi chart do have an effect in the vargas. I suppose that could be a quibble on the word "use". We don't calculate planetary aspects in the vargas, but we do use them in the vargas, e.g., to determine the effect of a lajjitaadi avastha.

This is just what I have understood from watching Ernst, and I'm been wondering, specifically concerning the LAs, if he actually speaks direclty to those principles anywhere? Any thoughts on this?

@j0sh4rp3 When it comes to the Lajjitaadi Avasthas, they are only looked at in the Rasi chart. What I do is I look at the Varga charts to see if one of them can point to that area of life that will be affected by the starvation, shame, etc. that's originally indicated in the Rasi.

In the videos I've seen he doesn't determine an LA from the varga, but sees how the deeptaadi avastha of a planet in a varga causes an LA that is present in the rashi to operate in a varga.

But that is just what he does in the videos. It is sort of confusing and I suppose I should ask him for clarity on whether he still thinks it is a good idea to do that.
