Most cultures, and even Vedic one, explain the world, enlightenment, as when we get to the point we see the whole world as ourself, and nothing is seen separate from ourself. The feelings of the world are feeling to ourself. Then how does enlightenment work actually? Because when we get on that path of seeing ourself in everything and open ourselves, don't I open to their pain aswell? Like even if I'm sitting safely in my house, I see all these women are getting raped in the world and there are wars going on and children dying, then wouldn't that hurt a part of me if I see a part of myself as everything in the world? How does that work?

If we take the word in itself "enlightenment" and try to understand the meaning behind it, maybe it can give a clue as to what would happen once a person reaches such a state of being.

Would we be enlightened if we were suffering? Would our suffering be cause for enlightenment? Would enlightenment suggest that the person has gone through a threshold and has successfully transformed into another state of experiencing reality? IF that's the case, would the enlightened person be still attached to experiencing reality in the previous way?

In my experience the reason why I suffer is because there is a belief that I hold that resonates with suffering. And the reason why I’ve experienced bliss is the weight of that being lifted but the bliss does not last forever. It is obvious to me that even a blissful state is not enlightenment. I’m not sure if enlightened people feel anything.

In your example, you still see yourself as sitting in your house, but if you were enlightened, there would be no "you" to sit anywhere, even if "your" body was sitting there.

I'm not enlightened so I can't answer your question, but from what I understand, the question you are asking arises from separate ego consciousness, the whole idea you present only exists because of separate ego consciousness; if you were enlightened there would be no separate "you" and thus your question would not apply in anyway.

I suggest reading the book I am That, Talks with Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj. I think it might help with your question. I attached a copy of it.
