Hi @ernst and friends,

I wanted to understand some nuances of Kapata Yoga -

1. Does a malefic in 4th house in its own or exalted sign[OH, MT, EX] cause Kapata yoga?

2. Does a waning moon in the 4th house(where it has highest Digbala) cause Kapata Yoga?

I never use moon for kapata yoga and if a planet is in OH, MT or EX unless its the sun it is a Mahapurusha yoga, so not kapata yoga and I don't consider sun in that dignity to cause it either. unless sun is otherwise starved or shamed. Essentially the yoga is still there, but its not going to be a majorly nasty kapata yoga.

I see this yoga quite often. My understanding the most severe Kapata ones are those with Rahu in the 4th followed by Ketu in the 4th...

To follow up on judgement for Kapata Yoga, in Core Yogas, it states conditions to counter this yoga. See below.

Only beneficial influences to the Kapata Yoga forming planets, along with the Kapata Yoga forming planets themselves being in own or exaltation in the rasi or navamsa or in vargottama make the Kapata Yoga practically void.  (Core Yogas, p230)

So for example, Jupiter Aries (3rd and 12th lord) in the 4th with Rahu for Capricorn lagna. Is this considered benefic b/c Jupiter is a benefic? Or does it change depending on the lagna and what houses the planet rules? In this case, Mars is also in Leo, 8th rasi from the lagna.

I know nabhasa yogas will also influence the 'weight' of the Kapata yoga but I am primarily trying to understand the above judgement independently.

Thank you.
