Dear @ernst,

My impression from what I have learned from you and elsewhere is that astrology in general in the dark ages were more fatalistic based and relied more heavily on just memorizing yogas? Seems like in the west, astrology in the dark ages was more based on mundane astrology rather than personal natal astrology. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Astrology was completley predictive until the last century. In India yogas were the primary method of reading charts. There are many natal astrology texts from middle ages from the western half of the world, so I think natal readings were very common.

@ernst

I have also found that astrology was very superstitious even, mechanical in its attitude and fatalistic in the darker ages especially around 500ad at the nadir of kali yuga.

In the west, when Rome fell, astrologers were basically condemned and thrown out of town so to speak. The Church largely did not like astrology. Astrologers were even killed during the Inquisition at times. But as Kali yuga was on the rise, like during the 'enlightenment' period and renaissance, astrology really gained naturally as did all sciences and philosophy.

its no suprise it's been on the rise since the renaissance. Its really something we need in Dwapara yuga, not to make predictions, but to figure ourselves out. Now we have zodiacal astrology and also vedic throughout the world, so it's actually very amazing time for us.
