Dear all,

I have a question for the group. Lately, I have been reading and hearing material on the nature of trauma and epigenetics. Increasingly, there is scientific evidence that trauma alters genetics significantly enough to impact several future generations. Examples include family trauma (issues of abandonment) or a higher incidence of certain types of trauma among certain populations (for example, among descendants of slaves in the US or Native Americans).
This made me think about how there are certain curses and afflictions that run in the charts of several family members. It also brought to mind something I learned from a friend and teacher of mine, namely that good or bad deeds have the power to improve or adversely impact several generations of our descendants.
Could there be a link between these two? In other words, could there actually be a genetic component that reflects these curses and family afflictions that can be seen in charts and could it be that by improving our own deeds we change our own DNA and that of our progeny?

Yes, there is certainly a genetic component that links these things and really, all our past life karmas. These karmas are in line with our genetic heritage. Also, we have our genes and they give so many qualities to us, but lets say we go out and get drunk ,while drunk, the brain is in a state that it cannot use those qualities, in other words, while drunk, it does not matter whether we have those genes or not because we are not in a state to use them. Anything that affects the brain will likewise cause us to use or not use some genetic potentials, whether healthy or unhealthy potentials. And trauma is one of the things that affects the brain to do this. So is healing.

I think this is what is called pitra dosha... Me and Yogesh are working to test the potential planetary combinations that result in this. If you have any charts, you can share with us. That will help in testing.

@amit I see! That's what it's called then. Fascinating. Please do share what you guys find with the group. Unfortunately, I don't have such family charts in my database, especially since I haven't learned enough about these curses. I only knew of them. I'd be very interested in cases where a family member managed to reverse or break a curse if you encounter those at all.

Coincidentally, I have been thinking of Neptune and Pluto’s roles in causing said traumas, as I try to heal my own. Neptune causes illusions, Pluto breaks them down. Much to say about it. Not related to Vedic at the moment, but it will be interesting to link it up later down the line.

Personally, I don’t think of them as curses, but as repression of certain things in our genetic make-up due to prolonged periods of unfavourable circumstances. It took a long time to repress them, and so it will take a long time to undo the damage.

Trauma on the other hand is sudden, but it has a more destructive effect on the genetic make-up. Trauma can repress but can also bring repressed things into consciousness. Either way brings about pain as it is a sudden break-up of chemical/energetic components that constitute one’s make-up.

The pain associated with healing trauma is what gets in the way of healing it. Also, not knowing the cause of said pain or fear causes one to block it off and throw a roadblock with regards to healing.
