Sometimes its written in different Astrology books that one should judge from the Lagna, the Sun or the Moon, who ever is strongest. I never understood how to do that because the Sun and Moon are planets and one could just see the Sadbala score but the Lagna has no Sadbala score. Does it mean one should take the Lagna Lords Sadbala score and compare? Or one could look at the Bhava Bala score for the 1st house but then again how to compare that to the Sun and Moon because they are planets? It does not make sense to me to compare these with each other because they are from another category. How can one see who is strongest?

yeah, they are never really clear on how to figure out the strongest. Does it mean its just best disposed, or actual strength? A rule you can use is that if the book talks about shadbala, then use the shadbala of the sun, moon and lagna lord to decide. If the book does not, use the dignity of the sun, moon and lagna lord.

Yes thats not clearly mentioned.

This time I read that in BPHS in the chapter about longevity where it says select Pindayu, Naisargayu or Amsayu depending if the Sun, Moon or Lagna is stronger. But I have come accros that in other texts as well. In Phala Dipika in the Chapter about proffesion such method is also given i.e. select from whoever is strongest.

You say if the book talks about Sadbala. You mean if Sadbala is explained in the whole text somewhere then one can us that method?

By the way, because I mentioned Phala Dipika, whats your opinion about how the text advises to judge the strenght of a planet? It does not use the regular Sadbala calculations or? It seems its a condensed version of Sadbala or some parts of it? For example it says if the planet has Dig Bala its strong but thats just a part of Sadbala and I have seen that some just see the planet has Dig Bala and therefore its strong.

Yes, if shad bala is part of that book then we can assume the author meant that.

Phaladipiika has good rules. But he does not explain just how to use the strengths, which again is typical so the book needs a lot of study and work.
