Hi @Ernst,
In the Classical Muhurta course, you say that lunar year begins at Sun-Moon conjunction in Pisces. At the time of the course, you were using sidereal zodiac. So I wonder if this calculation has changed? And where do you think lunar year exactly begin? And how do others calculate it (I mean assuming others look at Sun Moon conjunction in sidereal Pisces)?
Btw, your knowledge of Astronomy is so insightful. I have been learning astronomy these days more.
THe lunar year begins at the sun moon conjunction before the vernal equinox, which means, before the entrance of the Sun into Aries. However, the chinese new year begins a month earlier, the new moon before the first month of spring, which are the pisces/aries tropical months. There is some evidence that this may be the more correct way to calculate the new year.... something I am looking more into.
They calculate the lunar years on being the new moon before the aries sidereal ingress, so there is a good possibility this is not correct. Its something that needs much more careful looking into.
