I've had an amateur interest in Sanskrit long before I started studying Vedic astrology, so when I started with Vedic astrology I wanted to know precisely what the words were. Therefore, I started this glossary of Sanskrit astrological terms, which includes the devanagari and iast spellings, as well as a definition, usually from Monier-Williams.
There is a section specifically for the Adityas. At the moment, it includes all of the Adityas and the names of their retinues. In the videos so far, Ernst has mentioned a number of other names and people, and I have tried to include all of those as well, and plan to keep doing so as the course progresses.
There is also a great work entitled the Puranic Encyclopedia by Vettam Mani, which has summaries of almost all of the stories and characters from the Puranas. You can find a pdf of that work under the Adityas header in the glossary.
THank you so much Josh, this is wonderful.
This is awesome. THanks!
This is impressive! Thanks for sharing it as a resource.
Have you heard of the book Sanskrit Non-Translatables by Rajiv Malhotra and Satyanarayana Dasa Babaji? If not, you might find it interesting. It's available as a PDF, and well worth reading since you have an interest in it.
