Is this true that watching an eclipse can be dangerous with the naked eye or it's overblown?

German Astrologer Gerhard Feiner says you're not supposed to and he has learned from Ernst Wilhelm so I think it's valid.

Yeah, never recommended to watch eclipse with naked eye, especially solar eclipse.

Nasa has a page where they say only for the short moments when moon completely obscures the sun you can watch, but critical to put eclipse glasses as soon as even little bit of sun is seen -

https://science.nasa.gov/eclipses/safety/ , I wouldn't risk it or suggest any one to.

In India they do not want you to watch an eclipse, there is a lot of superstition about it. Personally, I think it's all nonsense. I used to follow it. There is also the idea that if an eclipse is not visible in your area it will not impact you much. Have found that not to be true at all. So the next step was, if they are doing their thing whether they are visible in our area or not, does not actually matter if we see them? In the last several years since 2018 when I got into astronomy with nice telescopes and other optical devices, I have been watching all the visible ones along with my family and I can't say that anything unusual happened as a result to anyone.

This idea that we have problems when we see it, if thats a valid idea, it would apply to the other planets, so if we don't see saturn in the sky we won't suffer loss, or if we don't see Jupiter we won't get any luck. I mean, its the same logic. Eclipses are not anything demonic, they are just another astronomical fact like the sun rising, moon phases, etc etc.

With solar eclipse, yes, you should get a solar filter to watch it so tha tyou can really enjoy it. If you don't have that, you can only take little sideways glance peeks but you are not going to hurt your eyes. I put solar filters on my binoculars and telescopes to watch solar eclipses.

A student and friend of mine for many years is an eclipse hunter, he has traveled around the world going to the visually best eclipses. Again, his life is not any better or worse than any of 1000s of people who chase eclipses.

That is my take on it.

Well that Lunar eclipse was nice to look at. It help me think about astronomy a bit more, I'm not good at it. I'm not a superstitious person so usually I don't follow superstitious thing like not watching something because it's a bad omen or something.

I was mainly checking due to possible dangerous light that may hurt the eyes. Sometimes I wonder though if Science isn't just another superstition 🤣 So I double check.

I think I wasn't watching too many eclipse because I'm also not a fan of the those overly social events, I prefer to meditate and see the them through my mind rather than in a group setting. Probably my Puusa Aditya is not strong enough.

Last night I watched the eclipse on Tiktok with an astronomer and meditate from time to time so to not get caught in the drama of futile conversation 😆 So I get a feel about what the Eclipse does internally but also get some social fun at the same time.
