Hello @ernst and fellow astrologers. My question is: If Saturn has 84% of required Shadbala strength, does that mean that since it is less strength than required that the effects that it could cause or suffering it could cause are less? It is also retrograde.

Thanks!

If Saturn is low in shad bala there is just not a lot of energy to do saturn things with, so saturn things will be less in life.

@ernst So just to be clear: that would mean that the suffering caused by Saturn would be less in general, but also when the person does suffer, that they will have less power/less stamina to endure through such circumstances. Is this correct?

Thanks!

this is just my understanding and Ernst please correct me if i am wrong. Saturn is lame, lazy, letting go and losses, death, perseverance, the ability to deal with inevitable changes in life, dealing with struggles. He represents our weaknesses and we all have them. A weak Saturn to me does not mean one suffers less of these things but it means to me one has less of an ability to cope with these things. Saturn is many weak things in life, but a strong Saturn gives us the ability to deal, cope, struggle with all these weaknesses in a healthy way while striving to achieve higher, better goals in life. A person with a weak Saturn will not be able to deal with losses, struggles, death in a healthy way which could lead to potential problem such as addiction. But it also depends if Saturn is getting support from other planets too to help deal with its weakness like Mars....

Yes, that is true in the con text of lajjitaadi avasthas, but not shad bala. Shad bala is a bit confusing. There is an aspect that a planet becomes less capable, and there is the aspect that the planet simply does less. Then there is the aspect of a planet being pathalogical. Pathological is due to bad avasthas, healthy is due to good avasthas. Shad bala will make someone less capable of using that planet, but not in a pathalogical way, simply due to, it not being so much their fate to have much of that planet. So a person with a low shadbala saturn will rest less simply because there is less of an agenda to rest. A person with a bad avastha saturn will not rest when they need to and get ill.

@ernst So, If you have Saturn with high Shad Bala and but poor starved Avastas, you have a lot of it coming at you and  better to work thru the pathology, eventually. What a blessing!

yes, then you are involved a lot in sun stuff, and so that avastha will come up a lot.
