Hi All,

Silly simple question:

What is the ultimate expression and kingdom of the Self, the Sun: The place where Sun is stationed (sign, house) obviously, but what about its sign Leo in a natal chart- is it just a "secondary kingdom" in a persons life?

And if yes-what does that mean exactly- a kingdom is a kingdom- is there less important kingdoms?

Can we say more on the role of Suns sign in regards to the Sun itself (Of course only in case where the Sun is not placed in its own sign)?

Thank you!

This questions reminds me of the video "Reading Rasis as per their Lords",  #5 in the New Rasi Sutras. Ernst says that the state of Leo affects the kind and quality of kingdom a person can build regardless of the Sun's placement, because the Sun's consciousness is always flowing through Leo. As I understand it, both the Sun and Leo together must be considered when looking at how a well a person can build their kingdom. Maybe something like: the placement of the Sun shows what kind of kingdom a person wants to build, and the state of Leo shows their capacity to build that kingdom.

@j0sh4rp3 I reckon planets in Leo will also impact the actual type of "kingdom" one creates, and style of "ruling" it as well.

@j0sh4rp3 sounds coherent- thank you! The house of Leo, could that be an additional area of life together with the Sun placement/ house?

@tamarap

I did a sort of reading based on the concepts in Reading the Rasis as per their Lords, so maybe an example would help.

I was looking at Bjork's chart (attached). Here is what I thought concerning Sun and Leo:

"empty leo and the sun in the sign of a friend and conjunct a friend indicates this person will have a good ability to build their kingdom, to understand and try to follow their inspirations and vision for life

the placement in scorpio shows that her kingdom will be built around her emotional needs, that it will serve as a place where she can be secure and stable while she explores her emotions

empty cancer and the moon in scorpio indicate a less than average ability to recognize her needs and to meet them in a healthy way. there might be a less than average ability to adapt due to a too great focus on her immediate emotional experience

however, with her strong sun she can build a kingdom that allows a safe place for her intense emotional experience to play out. her moon is being delighted by the sun which helps as well, though the sun is also agitating the moon, which could cause her to be less adaptable

her moon is slightly hurt which may slightly hurt the scorpio, causing her to be a bit more rigid and allowing her emotions to distract from her goals, yet the strong sun and especially the exalted lord mars more than make up for this, showing she will overcome these kinds of challenges eventually"

Leo holds her 10th house cusp. In the case of Bjork the interpretation seems rather obvious: her work in the world has to do with who she is as person, especially as an emotional person, especially as someone who works through and expresses her emotions.

I was also considering Ra Uru Hu, the channeler of Human Design. He has a parivartana yoga between 4th house cusp in Aries and 8th house cusp in Leo and there are many interesting things that brings up when I think about his life. For example, Jovian Archive is basically his kingdom, but his main motivation for it was to provide a legacy for his family, i.e, to provide for his family when he was gone. So his kingdom was based on the occult, though it was a great struggle to build it (saturn mars conjunction), but his purpose for doing that was to provide for his family (8th lord in the 4th house).

Hey, thank you so much for the great analysis of Björk’s chart. I think she’s an impressive artist. I would have thought that she had some strong Aquarius focus. Sun and Moon in the first house with the Ascendant — that definitely shows in her striking and eccentric presence. She always seems to be completely herself. Your description fits very well with what is known about her — her music, her appearance, her whole art. I thought Aquarius, because in a way she’s very innovative and fearlessly different from the norm.

I think her fearlessness is reflected in Rahu and Jupiter in Gemini – so eager to experiment!

I liked her early stuff, but it was becoming more and more exalted and crazy – which for me also symbolizes a starved Jupiter in Gemini. The search for a higher meaning in artistic experimentation, to the point of total artificiality? But in the end she might be a master of her emotional world being capable to work that through with the means of her creative expression even though with this agitated Moon in Scorpio...

The way I see it is Leo is always one’s kingdom. The king (Sun) may be elsewhere but he will bring the foundation of the house Leo is in with him.

I’m a Gemini lagna so I have strength and courage to overcome problems by learning a bit about them. Geminis are quite good at figuring things out on a basic level. My king is awkwardly in the 7th house (Sag) so I bring that foundation with me in dealing with people and my relationship. One way you might see this is I naturally want to fix problems in relationship instead of using Venus or Saturn. Or I may even sacrifice the relationship when it’s not my idea of perfection (say a problem can’t be fixed or I’m not in charge for 2 seconds 😂). It is very different from Saturn’s way of letting go or accepting that relationship is never perfect.
