Anyone willing to share their thoughts on the Sun in the 12th? I´m having a reading this afternoon with a 16-year-old girl with that placement. An enchanting person; very spiritual and intuitive, with Mars and Venus in Aries - passionate - and with the Lagna lord Mercury in the Lagna; her only akriti yoga is the wonderful Chakra yoga, so a very powerful, yet secretive personality, as you would expect from having the Sun in the 12th. She´s an Ace of Spades, so already there we see a tendency towards moksha and solitude; the Sun is important to all Aces, hence my question. A perfect mix of outgoing/introvert and masculine/feminine if she can only learn to master the Jupiter/Rahu conjunction that is almost the only blemish in a generally blessed chart.

Oh, and also Saturn in her 4th causing some emotional restriction of course.

Hi Steffan,

What is the Lagna? What is the dignity of the Sun?

Generally, I find that the Sun in the 12th gives the person a lot of ambiguity about who they are or where they come from. There are usually issues related to the relationship they have with their father. I find that to be a common theme for this placement...something along those lines always comes up in the reading. One chart comes to mind a wonderful person with a beautiful chart in lots of ways who has Virgo Lagna, Sun MT in the 12th - has no contact with father out of own choice. Has completely cut father off from life. Anyway, that's a very common theme that comes up, which I have taken notice of as important. Usually, the person will probably need to do some digging into their unconscious/subconscious because a lot of things are hidden with this placement that can truly affect their sense of self. Hope that's helpful to you.

@suzanstars Gemini lagna, Sun in neutral dignity.

And yes, there are some father issues it seems. Saturn in the 4th is an indication of a saturnial mother, right; she´s very close to her mother but she (the mother) seems to play the main role as a disciplinarian. The role that ideally should be played by the father, it seems! Wonderful information Suzan; not sure that I can bring it up in the reading though; she´s 16 and she comes with her mother. Sensitive stuff, but good to know. I´m gonna tell her how important it is for her, especially as a woman, to give her female side what it needs; as Pat Allen says: A healthy woman is one that dedicate at least an hour to herself every day without feeling guilty.

Thank you Suzan, wonderful input!

Hi Staffan!

Here's some other points:

- Likely to be physical or emotional separation with the father

- Lots of time spent in isolation, absolutely. They're quite introverted

- Prone to spending $$. Might even have some government related expenses

Suzan phrased it very well. "Ambiguity about who they are."

Yeah, with that 12th house Sun and Saturn in the 4th, there's definitely some mommy and daddy issues!

How'd the reading go (if you've already had it)?

@curioussoul Thank you! Yeah, I had the reading and it went very well. A strong chart with a chakra yoga and both lagna and moon vargottama, Mercury in the lagna and Mars in the 11th, so this girl knows both what she wants and how to get it.

Just wanted to mention some examples from my life, two women I know have Virgo Lagnas and 12th House Leo Suns. Neither of them is introverted (though they are OK with being alone), however other 12th house elements are prominent in their lives. One has Sun Mercury in the 12th with Ketu, and she is very much into self development, foreign travel (truly more travel than anyone I know), and using things like bed pleasures and drugs to find herself, seek spiritual liberation (and to escape the material world). The other has only Sun in the 12th and Moon Mercury in the 1st and is working in the field of Mental Health, very successfully so far.
Neither of them have currently troubled relationships with their fathers but they are also not particularly connected to their fathers either. In general they both lacked emotional connectedness with their parents in their youth, since they have parents who are simply not emotionally intelligent, which I think put them on a path of being very interested in psychology and similar domains.

@nkan Interesting. Just one thought: "not being particularly connected to their father" does very much count a troubled relationships with the father I belive. It´s just that we have been so used to absent fathers in our time that we see it as normal, but psychologically it indicates a huge lack, don´t you think?

@staffan oh yeah totally, it's just that I don't know very many people who have amazing relationships with their dads, and we all know there are extreme cases of abandonment, alcoholism, abuse etc. so a regular, practical hard-working dad who is simply emotionally absent is seen more as an average to good dad, than anything else...

As you know, Madonna is a Virgo Lagna, 12th House Sun, and sex was a very big part of her brand and creativity. One of her albums is called "Bedtime stories" 🙂

@nkan True, I had forgotten. Yes, Madonna and her struggle to be seen as a sex icon... Which she very much was, but mostly by women and gay men, I believe. I actually think that she´s pretty much non-existent in the mind of most heterosexual men, even from those generations. A tragic example of how women and men seem to be sailing in completely separate water in our days. A high percentage of young men avoid women altogether today and the women, as good pupils of Madonna, just don´t understand why.

@nkan Haha, that's so funny!

Also, to what you mentioned above about foreign travel, YES! That's a big one too.
