Hi Ernst and everyone;
I´m currently reading a spread of a 10H/Sagittarius lagna.
10H indicates a devotional approach to life. But for Sagittarius lagna Venus is evil. What do we make out of that? When I look at the spread I want to tell them to walk the devotional path. But then the horoscope says something completely different.
I´ve heard you saying "welcome to astrology, a world of contradictions". But is there a way of harmonizing those messages?
The person´s nodes are in the 1st/7th axis, so they don´t bring devotion into the picture neither.

@staffan Not an expert here, but I think it is not as straightforward as if Venus is an evil lord, that person is not meant for devotion. If that were true, it would mean that most of the fire and water lagnas are not capable of a devotional life.
Again not an expert here, but Venus as 6th and 11th lord is exalted in the fourth house for a Sagittarius lagna, possibly means that they are meant to transmute all the desires through inward devotion of the heart, rather than debilitated Venus in the 10th house, using it for worldly status and influence?
@qwertym2 yes and I wonder if Venus can be a great strength for a Sag given it is exalted where it has dig bala
@karinia Yes, exactly what I was hinting at. I am myself a Sc lagna with Venus in Pisces 5th house
@qwertym2 at the same time, Sag’s good planets lose dig bala when they are exalted.
@qwertym2 What an interesting placement! Since we speak about devotion; 5th is the house of praying, mantras and chants. How does that manifest in your life? Venus is also the 7th and 1st lord, so those themes are brought together in the 5th. I have the 7th lord in my 5th too, and I know that it may be problematic since it may make the person a little too playful when it comes to relationships/sex, but other than that...?

@staffan It's 7th and 12th lord(not 1st). It has been a life saviour for me. It has helped me heal my Sa-Mo(my Ra-Ke lords) conjunction in my 4th house, helped me come out from many trying situations in life(also with help of proud Su and Sa). It has helped bring devotion in my life. When it's antardasha ran during 2022-2023, my course of life changed. I found the purpose of my life. Very grateful to have it in my chart. It's my Atmakaraka planet.
@qwertym2 Oh, of course, 12th, my mistake. Similar to my chart, it´s 5th and 12th in the 9th. So important to understand how the dharma houses and angles houses interact. Maybe we should start a little Venus fan club? 😀 I don´t know if it works being devoted to the devotee, though... Sri Lakshmi, that would be.

@qwertym2 That´s a very good obsevation. Also seems to line up with this specific card. It´s the card of JK Rowling/Harry Potter (she gave him her own birthday and he seems to be a self portrait in many ways), and in the books you can see how it´s all about Hearts and Diamonds, some Spades but very little Clubs (philosophy).

Often evil lords are involved in the path or dharma. For example my son is a Sag lagna and has a Sun Venus Jupiter conjunction in the 6th of Taurus. Not everyone’s path is the ideal path for their lagna.
