Hi all,
I am working my way through the different spreads, and when I got to the Sun Lodge spread spread, I decided to try it on myself, in relation to a guy I've been dating on and off. (It seems to be going nowhere, but at least it makes good practise material...)
I did a four stack cut to check if I could ask the question. That came back affirmative.
I then first used the Sun Lodge spread spread to learn about how he sees me. Those answers made sense.
But when I turned it around and did the spread again, to learn more about how I see him, I got a 7 of Spades on the first position: "How do I see him spiritually?" (= what do I see as his very best quality, his finest quality?)
7 of spades seems pretty odd, as an answer to that. This is not a person who has overcome some life threatening disease, had some near-death experience or lost a limb, without flinching. He's a healthy 36 year old. Not sure how to interpret this. Anyone?
Maybe I should add that his birth card is 5 of Clubs, which means he has 7 of Spades on the Mercury card. He has ketu in that Mercury card, but that's probably it. From what I gather, this 7 of Spades in the Mercury card can indicate that the person is really not in the right place/circumstances to make life work for him, to make the most of his talents, and therefore something needs to end/change.
He studied engineering but there were few engineering jobs in his own country so, afterwards, he switched to IT, worked in that sector for a while, and then sent out almost 90 applications to enter a PhD program in Europe. He got in, got a PhD in AI, in Spain and France, and is now living in France but working in the Netherlands (= another switch of location, one might say)
In any case, not sure how that helps with the interpretation in the context of the Sun Lodge spread. Maybe I see his determination as his finest quality, but that would be more like a 10 of Spades. (Which is what I have in my Jupiter card), not a 7 of Spades.
And in any case, it's not like there was an actual end (= 7) to his career, back home. He was not unemployed for years on end. He managed to switch to IT quite easily it seems. I've done the same myself (not to IT, but switching careers), so it's not that uncommon).
I'm wondering if he is a good listener?
If when he gives you things or does things for you, he is very sincere in it, and does it as a gift without expecting anything in return?
Is he open-minded and able to sincerely, seriously considered the viewpoints and experiences of others?
I'm thinking of 7 of Spades as "loss of self"...so when can loss of self be a good quality? To really listen to someone you have to put your own self aside for a while.
Do you feel that he is lacking spiritually? You didn’t describe him in a spiritual way, so maybe that explains the 7♠️?
Was it really 7 of Spades, or was it7 of Diamonds? Since you say he has it on his Mercury card. 5C has 7 of Diamonds in that position.

If the card really is 7S, I always tend to see that card as an Ace of Spades in disguise. You know, after the forest has burned down, new green leaves soon show up. 1+2+3+...7 sums up to 28; 2+8 is 10, 1+0 is 1, so a 7 carries a one within.
So it would be a person that is going through a state of crisis. The question was about spirituality, right? So we shouldn´t care to look about outer factors like career, health etc, what you seem to percieve is an emptiness that is about to prompt him into spirituality. Like in the movie about the Shaolin temple, the one with Jackie Chan among others, in which the chief monk look at this really mean person that has been harassing them for a long time and now seeks asylum in the temple, and he says: "He has acted SO badly that I suspect that he might be close to a spiritual breakthrough."
Like hitting rock bottom. Not economically, health wise, social wise, maybe not even emotionally although I suppose he´s emotionally empty. But spiritualy. Ready, or almost ready, for something new.
