One of the connotations of the 7 of Spades as a description card, is that it's being faced with a person or a situation that's making you face yourself and it hurts because you're not ready to face yourself yet. And it can represent depression because you don't know how to face yourself yet. So perhaps this person triggers you in this way, and thus helps you to grow as a person or push beyond your personal/spiritual limitations.

I interpret is as: when we view someone spiritually, we are viewing the 'good' in them. What you consider to be 'good' in him, is his power to end something or cause a crisis. Whether this is interpreted as 'good' by most people is not the issue, it is what you see as good.

as this is the what you see as thier best quality, it is always a good result. So you have toread the 7 of Spades as a positive card, so positive qualities of that card. .ability to get over themselves. 7 of spades is death of the lower self, of the ego, so a person who can get over themselves, thier needs, etc. and be present.

Wow, I did not realise there were so many replies. Appologies for the delay in getting back on here. Very helpful! Many thanks!

If I look at Ernst's interpretation (the ability to get over himself, his needs, and be present), then yeah, maybe there's something to that. I definitely see him as quite strong, capable, and at times, he can be a good listener.

He's a bit vulnerable underneath though - I think he has cancer rising and a pisces Sun - but he won't easily show it, and gets cocky instead (Leo moon). That prevents him from being really authentic, all the time. So he's on and off. Vulnerable, real, open one moment (he told me he feels safe around me), cocky, distant, the next.

Thanks for pitching in everyone!

@carolinedepuydt Now, being a feminist and identifying as "a strong independent woman", as you told in another post that you consider yourself, is probably not tbe best way to make a man to feel appreciated for his masculine energy. He might also feel that it´s an unpleasant and unsafe place for him to open up, since the relation tends to turn into a competition rather than a companionship. From a man´s perspective, there is not much of a gain to open up to a woman who doesn´t want his masculine contribution anyway, and probably does not see it as her job to soothe him or take care of him in any way. Why take the risk?

So it may have to do with your attitude too.

@staffan We haven't know each other for long, so it's normal that a person doesn't open up too much straight away. He even said that he's like that, not revealing too much all at once, in general. (one of the reasons why I think he has cancer rising in fact)

P.S.: One can be strong and independent while still being very feminine (receptive, etc.). Strong just means resilient in the face of difficulty, and independent means that while I love being with someone, I am not so desperate that I would be with someone who is not a match, out of fear of loneliness.

This conversation about the positive side of the 7 of Spades reminded me of the fact that it is in fact my Year card, or whatever it is called. So far, I had only looked at it through a negative lens (as in: this is definitely not the year in which I will experience a much-needed breakthrough in my health...), but maybe that is too narrow a view. Or maybe it can be both: both negative and positive.

@carolinedepuydt The 7 of Spades can be a health breakthrough due to modern medicine. Where the 6 of Spades is the strongest your constitution can naturally be (like an athlete) the 7,8,9 process is where you can be doctored up and become stronger than that (performance enhancing substances/drugs). So this can be prescription medication or over the counter medication, vitamins, herbal remedies, or even new forms of therapy and treatment. For example, when the 7 of Spades comes up for me, it usually indicates a Chiropractor visit. An adjustment with my chiro usually straightens me back up and I'm good as new again.

@kam But there is still an element of crisis, right? Getting healthier through a breakdown...?
Otherwise I have a hard time to see how 7 could build up something, it´s always - as I understand it - about breaking through to the other side. Like a one being born through a 7, 1+2+3 etc. Don´t you think?
