Hi Mattias,

Yes, plants in general are ruled by Venus and Sun. Sun rules plants that "stay in the same place", Venus rules those that reproduce by extending their roots, (like grass), creepers.

We can group plants further by their human use:

Sun: nice wood that can be used for furniture

Saturn: ugly wood that are still useful, wood for DIY, for heating; everythibg dried or withered, also hay, tobacco etc

Moon: plants having syrup eg. Maple

Mars: edible but bitter tasted plants that we mainly eat for health reasons eg. Neem

Jupiter: fruits and nuts

Venus: plants that we have for their beautiful flowers like rose or magnolia

Mercury: everything else, plants that have no fruits but can still be eaten like spinach, salad, carrot, but also bamboo

This is all what I have found in my notes from graha sutras course. 🙂

Yes, thanks Agnes, but that ´s not quite my question, it´s rather about a person´s connection to the plant kingdom in general, like a person apt for botany or herbal medicine. Like a good Mars indicating a strong connection to the mineral kingdom (and that way being perceptive for gem energy etc).

Hi Mattias,

Ok, I see.

I reheard that part of graha sutras course (audio course, track 10. At 1'30"), and found the following:

Plants are called Moola, roots in Sanskrit. Plants can easily be divided into two groups based on their roots.

Plants extending their roots, grass, creepers etc. are ruled by Venus. So they reproduce by themselves.

Plants that grow seeds, wind blows it away, bee comes etc. so those that need help as they stand on their own are ruled by Sun. These are most trees and flowers.

So botany is ruled by both Venus and Sun and based on what the person is researching we can differentiate which one of the two to take into consideeation.

Hope this helps.

Hm.. That would give us two types of botanists. I wonder about that, but maybe.

Thank you Agnes, I haven´t done the audio version of Rahu Sutras yet, so I didn´t know that.

Yes, it is a weird and hard to differentiate which planet to take...

You meant Graha Sutras course (not Rahu sutras)?

@agnesbarna Haha, I should not have answered when I did, I was in practically in the hallway on my way out, clearly not focused. I meant Rasi sutras, wrote Rahu sutras, but you refered to Graha sutras. And yes, that course I did. I remember that table. Thank you Agnes.
