When does the innate nature of a planet come into play?

Hi Ernst,

When a planet's dasha begins (or antardasha etc), the planet assumes its functional nature according to the rules of Paraashara, and the planet gives its results accordingly.

But in between dashas/antardashas.etc., the planet retains its innate nature.

I guess I have two questions arising out of this:

a. Are results obtained only when the planet is operating its dasha/antardasha etc.? In other words, are results seen only when dashas are active?

b. Does the planet give no results when it merely abides in its innate nature statically, as in the natal chart?

Is there a specific video that addresses or describes this?

Maybe not results as indicated by Yogas in the charts, but in regards to the innate nature of a planet there are both the natural ages of the planets, and the maturation ages as well.

For a planet like Jupiter, the maturation age is 16, and the natural period of Jupiter is 32-50, which seems to be when people tend to find their vocation and be productive with it.

"The ages in the order of the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, the Sun, and Saturn are to be understood as supporting life in share with the Dasas from birth until the end of old age.”

-Yavana Jataka.

All of the info for this is in the "Ages of the Planets" course.

Hi Cody,

I was not referring to the natural ages of the planets. I was referring to the role that the innate nature of the planet plays in a static analysis of the chart.

Ah okay okay,

I feel like although the dashas can be predictive and indicate changes in life, highlights, or fruition of certain yogas, I think in general and at some capacity we experience the planets indicated in the rasi and their avasthas in a psychological sense regardless of the dasha .

Atleast in my own chart, if the fruits of Jupiter are delayed until my next dasha, it doesn't mean I don't experience my Jupiter at all. I still experience Jupiter, but I will probably experience it in a more fruitful way next dasha.

So ya, I think on a psychological level the general behavior or innate nature is always running as indicated by our general demeanor and is dasha independent. Those planets could be experienced in a different way during different dashas and transits, and therefor certain fruits or yogas are more likely emerge in a predictive sense of what ends up happening on the outside (results).
