Can upapada make sreemantaha

Since we use the upapada for everything we use the pada for, so does having moon, jupiter, venus or an exalted planet in the upapada makes one a shrimahanta aswell? 

But there's also the marriage rule that benefic or exalted in upapada gives great marriage so does this rule go different here? 

Which one of the above is shown or does it make both better? Both marriage and the person both?
