Hello Ernst and everyone,
in class 22 on focal bhavas, you say that when we see the 9 house focus we should take it to mean wanting a purpose.
why do we not consider it to be parents or religion?
also for the other houses. eg. 5h will it be a focus on children or intelligence?
and 12 will it be letting go of things of expenses?

Religion and parents both serve to give the child a purpose. Its all part of the same concept.
5th house is creative intelligence, also manifests as children.
to tell what a h ouse is doing you have to look at the karakas and the vargas and even the tajika sahams can help you figure out what exact part of a house is giong to happen.
