Hello Ernst,
We learned in Jaimini that Mercury and Jupiter when they aspect a planet they help that planet to manifest. But let's say Jupiter is aspecting Venus who is it's enemy, does that mean it is good for Venus because Jupiter has the manifesting strength to give to Venus, but it is not good for Jupiter because Venus is its enemy? That implies to me Venus Dasa will be good but Jupiter Dasa will not be good. Is this the correct understanding? Thx!
Hi Tuyetv,
I figured I would answer this question in case you're wanting an answer before Ernst can get to it.
Jaimini is one system while Parasara is another. They can work together since it's zodiacal astrology, but we're looking at different things with each. Manifesting strength of Jaimini is to see what has the power/potential to manifest. Separating factors will separate. I wouldn't use this to say that Jupiter's Dasa will be bad due to being Rasi aspected by Venus because Jaimini doesn't consider Venus a separating factor (unless it rules the 12th from that sign that Jupiter is in, in which case then it will become a separating factor to that sign). In fact, I use a Rasi aspect from Venus and waxing Moon as giving a slight manifesting power to what they Rasi aspect just not as strong as Jupiter, Mercury or the Lord. Hope that clears up the confusion.
Also, in Jaimini, its actually the rasis that are getting aspected (by manifesting/separating/fulfilling planets etc), and hence everything positioned in that rasi gets the aspect too
So in this case, Venus aspects the rasi in which Jupiter is placed. So everything in that rasi gets the Venus aspect (including Jupiter, other planets and the cusp in that rasi too)
Finally, in Jaimini, the friendship concept is only used to determine the dignity of the planet based on the lord of the rasi in which it is placed. For aspects, friendships are not considered.
Suzan and Dr. Rajan - Thank you both!

Bhavarthna Ratnakara, the best book for learning Vimshottari Dasa tricks, states that when Jupiter and Venus join or aspect, Jupiter Dasa is mediocre while Venus is great. So yes, that's exactly what happens.
