Hi Ernst,

In Jaimini Sutras Chapter 1, Pada 4 of the audio course (video #2 I believe), you mention that, when it comes to determining the Upapada for a marriage related question, we carry over the Upapada from the Rasi over to the other Vargas (up to the D12) but that, for the D60, we do it differently and we calculate a new Upapada for the D60.

It seems however that the Upapada for each varga is calculated independently from the Rasi as per Kala software. Has that rule about carrying the Upapada from the Rasi to the vargas up to D12 changed? Or should we ignore sotware in that instance and calculate ourselves? Also, any idea why we look at the D7 for yes/no marriage and not the D9? Would that be because we look at the results of the relationship (D7) when the D9 is an already established marriage?

Thank you,

Mona

Hi Mona

As you guessed correct, till D-12, we use the Udapada rasi of D-1 for in all these vargas. That's a technique we use for interpretation as per Jaimini rules as mentioned by Ernst . Individually, every varga may have it's own Upapada, which the software calculates, but we're not using that. So just look at the UP rasi of D-1 in all vargas till D-12. Hope it clarifies.

@rajan yes, that’s perfect. Easy enough to just carry over, that’s how I’ve been doing it. Just wanted to make sure this was still valid information. Thank you!!
