Hi Ernst and group,

as an interpretative practice of synthesizing the avasthas, I would like to consider the following hypothetical example::

  • Cancer ascendant
  • Ma in 20:00° Leo,
  • Ju in 16:00° Libra
  • Me in 16:00 Aquarius
  • Su is a temporal benefic to Ma.

Analyzing the avasthas of Ma, he would therefore be considered:

  • old
  • sleepy
  • delighted by Jupiter (Jupiter is slumbering and yuva)
  • starved by Mercury (Mercury is sleepy and yuva)
  • Pramudita "delighted"   |  GF dignity
  • further, Ma is a natural cruel planet
  • further, Ma also rules the 5th and 10th house for cancer

So generally, Ma would be working hard (cruel planet) and be very active (ruler of 10th) and creative/ intelligent (ruler of 5th) in the managing of ones own finances and responsibilities (Ma in 2nd house). The area in which this takes place could be government-related such as in the area of taxation (Ma in sign of Leo) and the feeling the individual would derive from that avtivity would be delighted like being in the house of a good friend (Pramudita). This is reflected in the circumstances in the area of finance, which shows positive karmas (Ma in GF dignity).

The fact that Ma is a bit sleepy shows that he can take care of the 5th and 10th house to an average level (sleepy Ma as ruler of 5th and 10th). Now the ability of Mars to take care of his own houses as well the effects of Mars on the 2nd house need to be adjusted by the lajjitaadi avastha influences on Mars. Let's say both Jupiter and Mercury influence Mars to 30 virupas and both Jupiter and Mercury have the same Shadbala strength.

Using the current Kala lajjitaadi avasthas table in the configuration named "Shadbala", I would expect the influence of Jupiter and Mercury on Mars to have the same value, because jagradaadi and balaadi avasthas are not taken into account in these Kala tables.

Now my questions are:

1) How do we interpret that Me is only sleepy while Ju is fully slumbering on how Mars can produce as per lajjitaadi avastha? Do these Jagradaadi Avasthas have an effect on Mars at all?

2) Would Mars suffer less negative lajjitaadi influences from Mercury if Mars was not old, but let's say also yuva like Me? That is to say, do balaadi avasthas have an effect on Mars at all?

Or does it depend on the purpose of what is studied astrologically?

Thanks in advance for your interpretive guidances,

Christian

There was a time I tried to adjust the Lajjitaadi influence based on the Jagrad and Balaadi avashtas. However, I now dont think that is correct. I never mix those three avashtas into one soup AT THE SAME TIME.

what i do, is i give differnet Avasthas differnet importance depending on the dasa level. Shayanaadi to maha dasa, Lajjitaadi to Antar Dasa, Deeptaadi for pratyantar, Jagrad for sookshma and Balaadi for Prana Dasa. That is how i am experimenting with it currently.

@ernst

since I'm doing the predicting with Vim course now.

I'm going to apply this principle and let you know what results I get from my charts.

@ernst Hi Ernst, I was just wondering if you came to a conclusion re: assigning Avasthas to different Dasa level (now that am pulling my hair over an exalted Mercury that’s dead ????????). I like this approach, makes a lot of senses

Also, I’ve been doing my own thinking and wondering if, on a more psychological standpoint, the balaadi has something to do with what we are letting go of in this lifetime (old and dead) versus what we have to mature more into (infant and adolescent), what we are fully responsible of (adult). For example, an exalted Mercury that is dead, maybe it’s exalted because it’s been developed over so many lifetimes and, now, the person is not going to focus too much energy developing it, yet, can still use it effectively when and if needed. My son has that and, while friendship is very important to him, he’s never looking for friends, aka he never had to work at making friends, but friends come to him.  In his 12th house so spends a lot of time and energy with friends but in somewhat a “passive” state. Just a thought or maybe my wild imagination ????.

thanks!

@mona this isn't exactly what you're looking for, but this video by Corey from Eye of Veda helped me contemplate having a similar planet (exalted + dead + waning moon) from a philosophical standpoint.

Wow, that may be really smart.... Thank you Ernst. Any explanation why in this order?

I am tryng to relate the Avasthas to different elemental levels and the dasa levels to different elemental levels.

Hi Mona,

its something i am testing out. Its not a simple matter on account of several possible issues that can impact the results such as the dasa year length, the ayanamsa used, the nakshatra option used, and the correctness of the D60 as any method that is truly correct will require the differentiation of the D60. I hope I can find a lot of time to continue testing this out over the next year, we will see!
