Hi @ernst and everybody

If Mercury is joined by a Kruura in the rashi, does it mean it then becomes a kruura in all of the other varga charts? And, in case it does, does that mean it will produce Vikala avashtas over the planets it joins in the vargas?

That is my understand that if Mercury is a cruel planet in the Rasi then it is a cruel planet in all the vargas. Same idea as the Moon. If the Moon is waning in the Rasi then it is a waning Moon in all the vargas.

Thank you. I get that. Now, as it is explained in the Predicting with Avashtas course, a planet is impaired (Vikala) when it is joined by a cruel graha. My doubt arose because of the fact that in the guide it doesn´t say anything about Mercury specifically, although it does mention the waning Moon as a producer of Vikala.

Quote: "A Graha feels impaired when joined with a Papa Graha: the waning Moon, Sun, Mars, Saturn, Rahu or Ketu."

So I was wondering if a cruel Mercury could also cause a Vikala Avashta to the planets it joins in the Vargas.

@dreamwalker14 hi, the way I understand it and use it in practice is that although Mercury becomes cruel in the Rasi if joined with a cruel planet, Mercury is never a bad thing.

In Jaimini, it can help manifest just like Jupiter, which means that both Jupiter, Mercury and the Lord of a sign can help produce that sign and the significations of that sign. So, although waning Moon in Rasi is a waning Moon in all Vargas, Mercury isn’t cruel by itself in all Vargas, but still is cruel in the Rasi only if joining and therefore, reflecting a cruel planet. I say reflecting because as the child of the Moon, it can reflect the qualities of the planets that it joins. Hope that’s helpful to you. And best thing to do is test it out on many charts so you can see how it’s working.

Mercury will never cause a vikala avashta, good question!
