Good morning!

Has anyone found the lajjatadi avashtas to be applicable to the divisional charts? In 10 charts of close family and friends, I perceive meaningful application in the division charts (less so in the D-1), especially in the context of understanding specific, deep rooted, subconscious challenges. I’m not sure if this is an appropriate application. I’m curious what the community thinks/feels. Thank you!

Ernst currently doesn't though.

But I'm sure I haven't seen enough charts to have an informed opinion myself.

Its hard to know what we are supposed to use in Vargas and what we are not meant to use in vargas as the old books do not specify in any way, not even a hint.

In the past I have used the Lajjitaadi avasthas in the vargas, but over the years I quite doing it on account of being more and more astronomically focused on astrology. I try to see things from the point of view of what is happening in the sky. For instance, planetary aspects, they are based on degrees of one planet to the planet its aspecting. When we take planets positions in the vargas and consider a planetary aspect, its really not in those degrees apart, so I quite using planetary aspects. Also there is a lot of evidence bearing on the vargas that point to a lot of overhauling needing to be done with how we use them.

Here is the crux of it all though. The problem we have when we start using every technique in vargas, yogas, avasthas, aspects, etc etc etc. is that then everything we can imagine starts to show up in the horocope. at that point we can EXPLAIN any event, anything, with a few poorly understood techniques. This is what is happening currently with vedic astrology. Also, an intuitve astrologer who already knows what will happen can look at a horoscope where everything is happening because techniques are being overused in to many places, and his eye, under guidance of intuition, will jump to some reason to explain what they know.

I know this sounds funny, but that is what most astrologers do. I know people who do this without astrology. A friend of mine will be talking to a friend, and her friend will ask her, what do you think about that guy? And my friend will look at him and see something ugly on him, and say, look at that nose! He is a bad guy, stay away. She knows he is a bad guy, but she dont know why, so she just sees the one ugly thing. Her friend of course thinks shes crazy and does not listen... but she was right. So that is how intution works when its not fully spiritualized, a person knows something and blames it on something ridiculous. astrologers do the same.

To do scientific astrology, which is the only astrology that should be taught, we have to use astrology in a way that not everything under the sun is indicated in the chart. Only the things that WILL HAPPEN, should be indicated in the chart. When we do everything in every varga, we get so much happening in the chart, but only 10 percent happens in life.

In streamlining astrology we need to use everything properly, then events and things actaully line up and there is not a lot of extra things that never happen or never affect a person. This means understand techniques deeply, and knowing the proper application of a lot of techniques.

To further that end, I have been reducing things as much as possible over the last few years. Getting rid of the chatter and background noise with the goal of a much more streamlined predictive method. I have made a lot of progress and I am in the final testing period of a lot of these things and feeling more and more comfortable with the results.

Also, in respect to the vargas. we are so not using them in the context of the most ancient astrologers. The ancient astrologers from India did not use aries, taurus, gemini, etc. Just like Jaimini didn't. They used deities. So each varga had a deity attached to it and a planetary lord attached to it. They were not making charts that looked like the rasi chart. There is a WORLD, of information in these deities that we are not even tapping into. The rasi deities were the adityas, the vargas all had different deities. I have been working on the adityas, FINALLY, and the results have been really insightful.

So I think its important to first give the vargas themselves a lot more attention in their structure. and by structure I also mean when to use parivartana varga calculations and when to use other varga calculations.

I am not saying not to use lajjitaadi avasthas in the vargas. I am just giving my reasons for not doing so at this time as it does not further my current goals with astrology. Cymonka, it would be great if you would share some examples of what you are seeing.

Your friend's example is funny! , i have seen it happen with myself too. i can most of the times make an accurate decision whether i can get along with a girl or not just by looking at her picture, and almost always after one conversation. i dont know how. must be Ju/Ve conjunction haha

i agree with your point on using too many techniques. i think a chart does not show how much will the person has used to help change their negative planetary karma... for myself i found the avasthas in rasi most helpful to recognize bad habits. and vargas showed places i may need to work on and be aware because they could be my triggers...

so for ex: sa in aries in a varga isnt telling me that the varga will go bad, it just says that lack of patience in that varga/area may be a problem. if we resolve that, other things will be fine and take care of itself if the rest of the varga looks fine..
