An interesting add on to the 6th chakra for Sun and Moon is that Swami Kriyananda (who was a disciple of Yogananda) added that the 6th chakra is not only the "third eye" but also the medulla oblongata. Yogananda taught that the medulla oblongata is the seat of the ego (moon). Kriyananda proposed that the cancer/moon portion or the (-) portion of the 6th chakra was at this point while the Sun/leo portion was at the third eye. In the Kriya tradition the 6th chakra has two poles to it - the Medulla being the negative pole and the third eye being the positive pole.
Kriyananda also proposed that Rahu/Ketu represent the irda and pingala nadis along the astral spine.
I dont believe there is any Jyotish text talking about this though.
@scott-m-19 In yogic numerology, number 2 is linked to the negative mind. Negative because it is discerning, aware of duality, therefore of danger. It's the telescope of the submarine that's checking out in all directions before popping out of the water. Because of that awareness, it is longing to belong and its archetype is the diplomat. I've never been taught any connection to the planets in my numerology class but I can't help making it (they seem to align perfectly with the symbolism of numbers and add a dimension of understanding of the planets). I thought I would share as it seems to also align with the negative pole you refer to.
Yes, the 6th chakra is the medulla/third eye, however, the third eye is a reflection of the medulla, thus cancer is the third eye and leo the medulla. For this reason Jupiter is exalted in Cancer.
The ida and pingala are the two halves of the zodiac, the lunar half and solar half. The lunar half is the half of the zodiac from cancer backwards, the solar half is the half of the zodiac from leo forwards.
