Hello @ernst Happy New Year. Hope you and your family are well.

In the Muhurta book, p.138, you mention smaller Nakshatra Gandanta periods of 4 or 2 Nadis.

When no better time is available and the event is transitional in nature (like repaying a loan) I might need to resort to this, my question is: if 4 Nadis is 53 min and 20 seconds, do we add this time the minute the Moon enters, say, Aswini Pada 1? Then the time left in the pada would be the safe portion to use, right?

Also, given the nature of the Nakshatras, I'm guessing Aswini Pada 1 is less difficult than Aslesha Pada 4, for example.

Thank you for the clarification

Yes, that is how you calculate it. And depending on the event and what nakshatra is good for the event, the 1st or 4th may be the preferred one but in general, its better to take the first pada than the 4th.
