Hi Ernst, and anyone else that wants to chip in. I have heard you say, and I have also read elsewhere that when Jupiter and Saturn join or aspect each other, the Dasa of Jupiter will be ordinary, while the Dasa of Saturn will be very fortunate. I assume this can also be considered with ownership conjunction?
What I want to know is, why is that exactly that Saturn Dasa will be more fortunate? Is it because Saturn starves Jupiter, and Jupiter delights Saturn? Or is there more to the relationships with Saturn and Jupiter. For example, when Saturn sits in Sagittarius lagna, he is only in a mere "friend's house", yet, it still forms a Maharaja Yoga according to Brighu, Varahamihira, Garga. Is there something extra behind the relationship between Jupiter and Saturn that is beyond the avasthas and a fairly neutral planetary friendship that causes Saturn to be so fruitful when its related with Jupiter?
Does switching the focus from Jupiter over to Saturn dasa divert Saturn's limiting glare on Jupiter, putting it back on himself, and therefore gives Jupiter room to breathe and fructify?
Thanks
I think its simply an extension of saturn delaying things when aspecting and starving when conjunct and jupiter being a manifestor to whatever it influences and delighting whatever it conjuncts.
In general, saturn will be better than jupiter, and yes, saturn's indications can do well during jupiter antar but jUpiter;s will not do well during that time.
Wow I came here to ask this exact question!
I am studying a chart in which the native recently went through Venus-Jupiter. Jupiter is in GF dignity in the 11th house of gains. I have read elsewhere that Jupiter can be fruitful in the 11th house in general so I would have guessed that Venus-Jupiter would be a nice time. But I was confused to hear from the native that it was not. They told me that this was a very difficult time financially and very hard and stressful in general. Finances improved greatly and many new work opportunities/11th house gains and connections were made during the following period of Venus-Saturn which they are currently in.
Then I saw that Jupiter and Saturn are nearly fully aspecting each other. This must be the answer! I was curious as to why this occurs so it is nice to see this question has already been addressed. It is interesting to see this all in action in the chart. It sounds like I will be able to advise the native that things will be a big improvement in this Venus-Saturn period.
I would like to ask about Rahu mahadasa. I remembered that Rahu mahadasa is also better when Jupiter and Saturn join or aspect each other. To compare the dasa in term of good effects, Saturn mahadasa > Rahu mahadasa > Jupiter mahadasa. Is it a correct comparison?
@rhiannon, @codydeboer
If Ernst confirms about Rahu mahadasa, a person with Jupiter and Saturn join or aspect each other can have good things happen during Rahu mahadasa. Jupiter mahadasa is sandwiched between Rahu mahadasa and Saturn mahadasa.
