Hello - For Kala, are the Planet positions displayed in the Transit Chart (small chart with Tr in the center) from a sidereal or a tropical perspective or neither??  For example, when I calculated "now" the lagna showing on the chart is actually still below the horizon and has not "risen" yet.  I'm cross checking with Stellarium ( https://stellarium-web.org/) and comparing to what the Transit Chart is showing me.  Same with the planet positions.  The planet positions are reflected one rasi ahead of what they are showing in real time observation (e.g. mars showing in cancer on Transit Chart but reflected in gemini in real time observation). I am calculating the Transit Chart from my default location and I am running the latest version (2023).

Is this simply a calculation option in Kala that I can change (such as from a sidereal or tropical view - I run tropical rasis in Kala - if I change to sidereal, it will move the lagna back to line up a little bit better for what is actually visible but the planets still don't line up in the rasis where they are visible in the night sky.)

Or is the Transit Chart not intended to reflect the night sky???  Meaning the constellations that we see in the night sky do not reflect the rasis and therefore they are not meant to coincide and are not interchangable to the observer??

Any direction is appreciated.

The transit chart will use tropical or sidereal based on what you have selected as the default in kala. Tropical is not aligned with the so called constellations of stars called aries, etc. But these are false names of the constellations that the greeks came up with in 300BC after renaming the stars which were previously in older cultures grouped in 27, 28 or 18 constellations. Even if you select sidereal, the planets will not be in the constellation you see them in simply becasue the constellations are not even each 30 degrees, scorpio for instance, is much, much larger than that.

@ernst Ok.  Understood and that's kinda where my thoughts were going - constellations that we see in the night sky do not reflect the rasis.
