hi ernst, everyone.

I have been asked about determining a place of study between two locations. i am trying to determine it through the varshaphal yearly chart but i am not sure if i am doing it right.  the person wanting to study pastry cheffing. she was born in South Africa but move 5 years ago to Portugal were she resides.

if i look at her year varshaphal chart ,

1.she has libra asc ,

2.her muntaha in scorpio (2th),

3.her muntaha lord mars in Capricorn(4th)conj sun(11th lord)

4. her year lord is Ju in the 8th in taurus.

5.Saturn(4,5 lord) in pieces in the 6th house

6.VE(1,8lord),Moon(10th lord) and ME(12,9 lord) are all in sag 3rd house.

my first question is

1.her varshaphal  chart is based on her birth place in SOUTH Africa but she now resides in Portugal. when i look at directions (north, east, south etc )do i look from South Africa as a reference point or Portugal?

2.the 2 locations she needs to decide between are France or south Africa.

3..JU Is the year lord And indicate the studies or edification it also rules the 3rd house which is also studies (and chef school is more about a skill),it also represent sweet taste . JU represent N/E it is positioned in taurus which also represent N/E

4.MA is the muntha lord and can represent a chef work (not sure pastry is represented  well by mars (mars more of a cooking chef). i would  think more towards looking at VE (as the asc lord of where the path is directed and VE as related to luxury senses, restaurants, food delicious taste, delicates( although rules sour taste rather then sweet.)

MA rules south, it is in Capricorn which represent south as well

Ve  rules southeast and placed in Sagittarius which represent North west

5.MOON Is the 10th lord of the career it is with Venus in sag it is representing foreign land and it is in Sag (northwest) and moon rule northwest as well.

6.ME is the 9th lord and 12th, ME rules to craftsmanship its the lord of 9th house of education travel and 12th house of foreign land etc, it is also in Sag(N/W) with MO AND VE.  ME rules North

1.I AM LEANING OVER TO LOOK AT SAGITTARIUS AS THE DIRECTION INDICATOR, I AM NOT SURE IF I SOULD LOOK AT THE PLANETS AS THE DIRECTION INDICATOR OR THE SIGN.

2.AS I MENTIONED ABOVE I AM ALSO NOT SURE WHAT MY BEGINNING REFERENCE POINT SHOULD BE, SOULD I LOOK AT THE DIRECTION FROM PORTUGAL TO EITHER FRANCE OR SOUTH AFRICA OR FROM SOUTH AFRICA(BIRTH PLACE) TO FRANCE , AS WE DO SEE FORIEN TRAVEL INDICATED BY SO MANY FACTORS (AND IF WE TAKE SOUTH AFRICA AS THE REFERENCE POINT THEN THERE IS ONLY ONE SEEN OPTION WHICH IS FRANCE)

HOPE ITS NOT TOO MUCH TO ASK, I HAVE NEVER DONE LOCATIONS BEFORE AND I HAVNT STUDIED PRASNA YET SO EXPERIMENTING WITH THAT AND WOULD LIKE A BIT OF DIRECTION.

There is a relocation video where Ernst explained which location would be more fruitful, probably you can try that to determine the better location easily.

While Ernst does astro locality some, its not much. I would seriously look into astrocartography, though that would mean buying software and so for for serious results, which I already have.

@sharonsegall both answers that you received are really fast ways to get your answers.

I have some time today and could help you look at the chart to help your person make a decision between France and South Africa, but you haven't posted the birth data. I dont use Varshaphala at all for relocation choices, so maybe someone else can jump in and give you immediate answers using the techniques of your choice.

Ernst relocation technique where you use latitudes can be learned in a day. It's an amazingly simple technique and can give you the answers you're looking for.

Astro dot com also has a travel and relocation free map and it shows you what planets get activated , it takes minutes.

Hope that helps a bit.

@sharonsegall to answer your question, I use the town of birth as the starting point.

Also, keep in mind that calculations do change slightly depending on which city or location on the map the person would actually relocate to.

Then the interpretation changes as well depending on the accuracy of the birth time. For instance, the 10th cusp of career falls in Pisces for 15:45 birth time, but it falls in Aquarius for birth time 15:40, so it changes the whole interpretation because we would want career planets to get nicely activated at a location or another, when the client contacts us with their moving options. Having Jupiter rule their 10th cusp or Midheaven is totally different than having Saturn ruling it, as both of those planets have different agendas in the person's chart.

1. With Ernst's declination method for relocation, I attached a PDF with calculations and we have the following activations:

Cape Town: Moon, Mars and Venus Retrograde (Lg Ld) get nicely activated

Portugal: Rahu/Ketu gets more activated

France: Jupiter, Rahu/Ketu, Uranus get strong activations

From here you can use all of the basics of the chart to determine if the particular activations are desired by the client, considering the Vimshottari Dasas and Caranavamsa Dasas or whatever techniques you favor.

For instance, I moved 40-50 different times in my life and wherever Jupiter was activated, it would attract more wealth and luck in my life because my Jupiter rules the 2nd and 5th and its on the 10th cusps. I have experienced plenty of moves where Pluto, Saturn and the Nodes got activated, and OH BOY 🙁 I dont know that we can avoid experiencing life by consciously choosing a place with great activations, but at the time I didn't know all these techniques.

2. With astrocartography:

Cape Town: Uranus on the Midheaven (10th cusp) gets stronger activation, but Neptune on Midheaven looks relevant too. I would think thats a place of tremendous creativity and power of manifesting. If the person was in their 40's and already accomplished in their career, they might not appreciate the sudden shifts of Uranus. But this person just turned 18 so it is a great time to learn new things and face new experiences and unleash their creativity. They later on can build and grow somewhere if they choose to do so. Uranus is also in Pisces in the natal chart with 10th and 11th cusps if the birth time is correct.

Portugal: Chiron on MC Midheaven 10th cusp is the only activation close enough.

France: Neptune gets activated on the 10th cusp, but western France we also have Saturn activated with the IC 4th cusp - as long as they stay close to Paris or to the East, they should have less of that Saturn

OVERALL:

Because the person is Taurus Lg with Venus Retro close to their 9th cusp in Capricorn , and also in Capricorn we have Sun+Mercury (they are starting the Sun/Merc Dasa in a few days) and they are in Taurus Caranavamsa - they do need to make long term decisions based on their Venus and stay true to what they like and be open to learn and grow. They will start their 10 year MOON Dasa at age 20 and Moon has a lot of good things in store for them I think.

Moon is activated in their home country, so is Venus - so I would advise them in that direction if it was my client. Jupiter is also great to have activated so I think they wont go wrong with France either.

Looking at their transits, Pluto kept crossing their 9th cusp for a couple of years and it isn't completely done yet. It has also crossed their own planet Venus a few years ago which is tough for teenagers. As far as investing in long term education, and even apprenticeships, I would avoid making permanent decision especially with regards to a foreign country.

On the other hand, Uranus has been very close to the Ascendant cusp for about q year and it will be a proeminent transit in the upcoming year as well, so moving and major changes in someone's life can be seen. Because Uranus crosses the same point 3 times usually (with a few exceptions), the person might change their mind and direction several times due to various reasons.

Jupiter remains in Taurus until the end of May 2024 and as it gets closer to Uranus and their Lagna in April, the major decision and even a move may happen then. Those are the planets activated for France. So it really depends on the person's situation, support, family. But if they can afford it, I would go to France in this period, despite the fact that Jupiter rules the 8th. If there is financial support, grants - the person may learn a lot.

On a very simple note, Moon rules Europe and Moon as 10th Lord gives strong indications.
