Hi Ernst and other members of this forum,

I'm currently listening to the "Yogas of Character" course and trying to practice the Akriti yogas on charts I have.

I didn't take notes on the first video (shame on me). Does anyone remember whether we look at bhava cusps or number of Rasis from the lagna for these yogas?

Say we were looking for a yoga that involved the 10th. In the chart, we are looking at the 10th bhava cusp and the 10th Rasi from the sign are different? Which do we use for the purposes of finding the Akriti Yogas?

I'd really appreciate your help!

Angela

Yes, you only look at the whole house/rasi, cusps not involved.

On a related note from the same course. When it is said that 4 or more planets in one house destroy it unless it is 1,9 or 10, do we look at cusps or rasis?

@david108 Rasis I believe since the cusp is a specific point and can't "hold" any planets but a sign can. Also, because it's a specific yoga (don't remember the name) and we use whole house for those.

@mona thank you. Could we say then, that house cusps are ignored when studying yogas and only rasis matter?

@david108 Yes, that's the way I understand it! Cusps are particularly useful for certain Jaimini techniques and transits (if I had to quickly summarize it 😉

@mona Great, that's what I needed to hear. I went from Jaimini to yogas and wasn't sure. Thank you.
