This is my chart. I am just learning about this yoga and it seems like my chart is a great example. For Gemini lagna, Jupiter Mars and Sun are evil.

I see

  1. mars in Jupiter rasi
  2. sun in Jupiter rasi
  3. mars conjunct sun
  4. jupiter aspecting sun
  5. sun aspecting jupiter
  6. mars aspecting Jupiter

do I get to be an athlete now? 😉 jk

does mars count twice because it rules both 6 and 11?

I wonder about sun and mars being my atmakaraka and darakaraka and this occurring in my 7th. My relationship has always been difficult but I have grown spiritually and healed a lot because of it.

am I understanding this right?

Interesting. I´m a gemini lagna too and have three of these factors too it seems.

I´m wondering about the aspects though; to my understanding they have to be 60 varupas aspects for to count.

Hi Karinia, from your aspects, only the aspect from Mars to Jupiter counts.

We use full planetary aspects, meaning for instance for Mars, the 4th, 7th or 8th Rasi from it. We don't look at the quantification in virupas. That's what Ernst does in the course.

Okay, that makes sense. Thank you.

Jupiter is the graha that confuses me the most since it’s evil so it’s hard to comprehend that it can benefit both Vipareet and Kona Yogas.

The in/auspicious grahas for each lagna confused me a bit which is why I hesitated to study yogas. I understand that Gemini lagna needs to focus on Venus/devotion in order to do the refinement that they are set out to do, and that Jupiter gets in the way of that due to beliefs. But Ernst said in the old rasi course that having a strong jupiter can actually benefit the Gemini lagna spiritually (but their life may suck)… and well isn’t that the purpose of these Kendra yogas? Is the difference that the life doesn’t suck with strong Kendra yoga? I mean, suck is subjective and an immature way to look at it, but yeah I’ve had some really shitty moments. My Jupiter is quite strong at 26.6/0.1 calculations while the rest is pretty weak/mediocre

@karinia What you says about Gemini lagna needing Venus and devotion as a spiritual path, rather than philosophy, really resonates with me. I wonder where you´ve got the concept from and where I can learn more about it.

As for my chart - maybe it might cast some light over the issue - I have the following vipareet yoga factors:

1. Sun in Jupiter rasi, 7th

2. Ju conjunct Mars, 5th

3. Vv

And indeed, my life has revolved around those themes: Difficult marriages, bringing up children, and professionally the public and creativity (I´m a crossword writer). I´ve been navigating extremely rough waters in that sense; well not workwise, but familywise; family court, foreign country etc, situations of my own making to a certain degree, of course, but I have also been able to handle it more or less well. Two of my three kids are thriving, not only materially but also as persons, as human beings, and I´m in a wonderful, nurturing relationship. And I have made a lot of growth, like: a LOT of growth. And indeed: through exactly those things that the Vipareet yogas indicate.

As for Venus as a beacon: GF dignity in the 9th, ruling my trashed (shame even) 5th and 12th. I´m on a devotional path, for sure. Pray every day, take care of an altar. Venus is my AmK; it might be interesting that I´ve had three female gurus, non of which have cut it in the end, the all turned out to hide stuff that made them crash at the end. But anyway. Now I´m more or less led by my wife, that has a higher level of consciousness then what I have. Not that Venus has to indicate a woman, but I guess it may carry that flavour too.

@staffan I heard it in the old rasi sutra audio course. I attached my notes for Gemini, hope it helps.

@karinia Wow, that´s great, thank´s a lot. I realise I have to go back listening to that course.

This really resonates with me, and I realise even deeper how lucky I am having a decent Venus in the 9th.

What also strucks me is how all this resonates with my BC 5C, which I wrote about in a recent comment. A double whammy of saving grace, and of the devotional path being pointed out.

Devotional music plays a big role in my lie. I´ve walked the so called red path. I´m a Sun dancer. I sing medicine songs in front of my altar almost every day. Have started playing the flute.

What you say about self importance also resonates completely with 9S being my Rahu card and 2H being my Ketu card. Only overcoming ego - self forgetfulness - can help a 5C to set himself free. It´s all set up for great spiritual growth. It´s up to me to walk that path, or dwell in self pity.

PS. As for my AmK Venus, I consider Ernst as one of my mentors, or gurus one could say. He´s a card reader and introduced me to the CoT system. That´s Venus.

I´m a 5 of Clubs. As such, life also suggests devotion rather than philosophy as a path. 9 of Clubs on the Saturn card, 4C on the Pluto card. We also have some extra protection against hardships, similar to what the Vipareet yogas produce. 5S on the Jupiter card, 3D on the Sun card (natural capacity for detecting delusion when it comes to seemingly good opportunities, AS on the Moon card giving a natural knack for bouncing back. So it´s hard to say whether it´s the vipareet yogas that has helped me to deal with hardships in life, or whether it´s the cards indications.

@karinia  What´s your experience, as a Gemini lagna, of having Venus in the 9th?

As said, I have it too - and Sun in the 7th/Sag, just like you, and Gemini lagna. And for me it´s more or less what saves my chart.

Have you found an devotional path?

Have you, like me, found a profound connection to the cards; deeper even to traditional astrology perhaps?

@staffan I honestly hate the idea of being devoted to something if it feels wrong. I have a lot of beliefs and if any part of something doesn’t make sense how can I devote myself to it? Many of my beliefs have been proven false over the years as well. I have been humbled many times. When I was young and very angry I protested to God. Perhaps that is shown with 12th lord in 9th. I was even in a metal band fueled by hate and rage lol. I have been in several relationships where I would get very intensely attracted to one thing about the person and devote myself to it, only to abandon ship once I really got to know them. I’m not sure what worldly thing is worth devoting myself to except for healing myself. I pray to show my gratitude and for guidance. When I surrender my body moves spontaneously and worships something. If I actually focus on something my body does something else. Idk if that is Rahu.. still trying to figure that out so for now I mostly just meditate on the Sun because I feel like that’s a safe bet. Interesting that we both do Sun things.

@karinia Yeah, Rahu´s placement there doesn´t make it easier, exactly. Cussing at God is recognizing him/her/they ruling. It´s not as nice as bringing him/her/them flowers and offerings, but has the same value and function. According to the old texts, according to Ernst somewhere in the courses, maybe you have listened to it already.

Whatever God is. Divinity.in some form.

As for devotion and Venus i believe the point is that there is no philosophical motivation for it. Or: "The heart has it´s reason that the reason doesn´t understand." So a precious stone or a tree that you fall in love with, no reason. The inner child knows. But your Mars is with the Sun, so maybe some oppression there, not allowing yourself to pray with an open child mind?

I saw a movie the other day in which someone said that the way for a man to know whether he loves a woman or not, is not how he feels about her, but how she makes him feel about himself. Something like that. Devotion makes you love yourself.

And yes it is, I mean interesting that we both do Sun things. I thought it had to do with my Nakshatra, Uttara Phalguna, whose deity is the Sun. And maybe it is. Or maybe not.

I guess it´s not my call, but I think that you are doing really good. Engaging in exactly the fight that your chart indicates that you are supposed to fight.
